Can you still get these for motorbikes? Anyone know the dimemsions?
I'm having trouble finding a tail tidy I like that will fit a standard NZ plate and small led indicators. I'm thinking a square number plate might help.

And tended to snap under vibration. Don't imagine a tail tidy would supply any extra bracing.

You can also mount your plate vertically instead of horizontally.
Rules might change in the future but as the law is written now it is legal to do so![]()
I have a square number plate on boith my road and dirt bikes that I have cut down, only changed my VFR800 one in last 3 months so it slots in between the two pipes, so as far as I'm aware you can still get them, I just rocked up to VTNZ and they had them there, didn't have to pre order it

there was a court case back in the 90's where a ticket was issued for not using one of these eye chart plates
the defence was that the plate as supplied contravened mot regulations as the plate as affixed to certain model bikes was a dangerous fixture or fitting
the police refused to provide any evidence for the prosecution and the case fell over in court
the old style plates were quietly reintroduced shortly there after
Never seen one of these square plates and google fails me. Anyone got a pic?

Interesting timing... over the last few days I've seen several starting with B8, which makes them very new... I'm guessing they're still available...
