I'm not sure if an old 400 is worth it when a far newer 600 isn't much more money. I ride my bike everywhere no matter the weather so it needs to be relatively cheap to run. I was thinking something like an sv650 or bandit etc.

Would that crash be a cause for concern or just another thing to get checked out?
So you want to go from a 20hp Hyobag to a 155hp litre supersports?

That gixxer you'd be wanting to see paperwork for thats said to have been done, at its point in life its the sort of bike to take off the road & to the track.
Does the bandit suffer from the same cheap brakes and suspension as the sv650 does? I was hoping to pick up something fuel injected but only because of better fuel economy.

I would probably go for a sv650 or bandit over the cbr600rr. Easier to get used to the huge jump in power.

Nah. I don't have my full license. And I'd probably crash spectacularly. I am just questioning whether or not a 400 is worth it when a newer 600 seems to be not much more money.

Both of them are competent bikes, any inadequacies in suspension or brakes are beyond the capabilities of the average rider.
The SVs when 1st released suzuki had a race series/program with a fleet of identical bikes for riders so they aren't lacking.
And cheap doesn't always mean sub par, doesn't always have to be big brand labelled to be capable.....there's more to motorcycling than it being a fashion parade

And I'm a very average rider haha. As long as they feel much better than the Hyosung's I'll be happy.

Is there much room for a little suspension tweaking? I weigh 70 kilos on a bad day.

Just because they were raced, doesn't mean anything. The standard suspension is junk on an SV.

Awesome how you know more than international reviews
If the suspension is junk how come its only the 3rd generation that anything major has been done? Oh thats right major change.....they ditched the preload in favour of non adjustable yep suzuki & showa have less clues than you

Ooh. Unprecedented. I'm going to side with Drew.

Suzukis are above all budget bikes. Cheap is better. They know how to present the best value for money. It's not about what is better. It's about bottom line. More sales. Cheapest products.

They have their place in market. Most people don't care. But be sure, suspension mods are the best thing you can do to these.

Triumph are running the same model.
Don't you look at my accountant.

Just jump right on into the SV Suspension debate, click this link make you SV handle how it should for US$129....

Have these in mine and it's a completely different bike and a ZX10r rear shock bolts straight in.

    Damper rod forks.

    End of argument.

    I don't disagree with that.

I raced an SV on standard forks and managed second place in F3. But that doesn't make the suspension any good, it's still fucken junk.

That's all you've got on a bike with a 18yr model run so far

Junk suspension for Suzuki go in the realms of:
Rotary damper on the TL1000s (we all know that story)
    Whole set-up on GSX1100G (jelly)
Whole set-up on GSX1100F (within 2yrs stiffened up & swingarm lengthen)
Whole set-up on 1st gen VS750/1400 (so soft the frame felt like it had a universal joint in it)
Or Yamaha's 1st gen FJ1100 with jelly legs
Or Honda's FVQ rear shocks (didn't end up with rep of Fade Very Quickly for no reason)
Or the whole set-up on big Zeds turning to jelly when pushed....try riding a Z1RTC in anger and you'll findout

There's plenty more bikes out there with "junk" suspension but 1 issue on a bike with an 18yr model run doesn't make it crap

It's not just the forks, but that it has damper rods is the epitome of crap suspension.

I didn't say the be was crap, I didn't say people shouldn't buy them, I'm telling you that you're wrong in thinking it's decent enough gear based on it being used for so long.

I'm now also saying you're a fucken moron, and I'm dropping the mic and walking off too.
