Me too, I'm pissed off been looking forward to this all year. Plus i need a new tee shirt...

So it makes next years one the 39th...
Was going to be my first North Island rally. Plenty of Monkeys and nothing to compare them to. Trailer is still loaded ready to not go.
Also did 100clicks with the trailer to make sure it was ready for its first real adventure. Still sad.

It was held on Maori land. Wander if the local iwi got too greedy and wanted more money for the use of their land.

Or they had a better, more commercial use in mind? More likely insurance I suspect this close to the event.

have you seen the cold kiwi site, it's a paddock 7 kms off the main road used for one weekend a year the rest of the time it's just another paddock..... Unfirtunately now the owners don't get a nice fat cheque once a year and we as rally goers have to miss out, would've been my 32nd kiwi this year so i'm gonna have to find something else to do with that weekend!
    insurance was not an issue

I also don't think it was insurance, as they say they will be back with a new site next year. I would speculate there was trouble with the owners of the site, either didn't want us to use it or wanted more money. It's just interresting that it got pulled so close to the date and not earlier. Oh well, that will explain it why their online shop was down all last week.

The RMCC guys and girls musta done a heap of work during the year on site and off site to ensure another smooth running CK. For it to be canned this close to it the only reason I can think is $$$$$, or a major falling out between club and owners?...

    Still fucking annoyed about it.

I heard a rumor the prices were hiked to ransom levels and the intention was to confiscate Cold Kiwi gear as payment after the event...... but the event got ditched and gear pulled out early to stop this happening, Rumor of coarse but definitely a land issue, I guess that is the end of the income from Cold Kiwi from them

Hah that is how I spelt it but Firefox told me I was wrong..... spelt with the extra u and it highlights as a spelling error

I was told the postponement announcement was delayed until they got all the gear out they could out that RMCC put there and that they got in first to prevent shit after wards, the land owners had the attitude the RMCC was making a bundle out of the event, But as I understand it they are running it as a none profit event, money that goes in all gets put in to the event but comments like this shows the land owners think someone in making good coin

    (direct quote)
" you greedy fuckers think you can plant your arse on my land for fuck all you get what you deserve"

So onwards and upwards for next year at a new location

Must also stress not all the land owners thought the same! But I guess that's how it goes in in big trusts etc

Yes, I see there is a bit of sht slinging going on the Cold Kiwi FB page between the land owners and the public.
