Question either Kaitaia or the south east coast?

    Hi,

I want to hit the road this week (Wed to Fri), can anyone reckon a nice route and accommodation? Living in Auckland

    Thanks

We rode up north last weekend & the roads were awesome.
If you want dry roads Probably keep away from waipoua forest & the mangamukas they are really damp, mossy this time of year.
    Best roads would probably be
    SH16 to Wellsford,
Turn off to mangawhai past Te Hana ,
    head towards Whangarei from Waipu,
Turn off on to Otaika valley rd to mangatapere, onto mangakahia rd to Kaikohe,
Kaikohe to Rawene is an excellent road, There is another excellent road that goes from Kaikohe to kerikeri around the lake ,
the loop around the bays at the top of Kaeo hill is excellent.
Just buy a map and go for it.
    Lots of accomadation in paihia.
Most of the roads up this way are good bike riding roads.
If you were headin this way on the weekend we could show you some of the roads.
