    Clipon adjustment

Have been thinking lately about ride comfort and other such ageist things.

I have never changed the angle of the clipon bars on my bikes and am wondering if that is normal or not. It strikes me that playing with the angle might lessen wrist ache on a long ride. If they are brought together too much then they could whack the tank (with fingers between) and that probably is not good.

    So, any comments?

Most clip-ons don't allow for any adjustment. My current bars are almost perfect (for me). However, on my VTR they were too low, and the angle was wrong. This was corrected on later VTRs, but for my '97 I purchased a set of secondhand GenMar risers, which added 19mm to the height, and because of some slack, allowed a few degrees of rotation fore and aft, which gave me all the adjustment I needed.
There are also adjustable clip-ons, such as Convertibars or Tommaselli clip-ons that have adjustment available in more than one direction. Good, if you can work out what you need, otherwise they may be confusing.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

It kinda depends on where you are actually getting sore, and why? I.e. do you feel there is alot of weight over your wrists - for this most people get something like helibars, also have a look at where you are holding the clipons, are you at the end or right up next to where they attach? How broad are you? This will also help determine what position your clipons should be at, if you are quite broad then push them out as far as they will go, if not then slowly bring them in, and do a good ride on them to see how they feel.

    Hope that helps.
