Great to read the post from MUZZ67, as I am having the XR vs TT debate at the local pub, & the only people who can
truly debate this are the lucky one's who rode them back in the day.
    Keep those stories coming.

you musta been drinking down at the royal hotel again john? that drunken fisherman has a collection of tt/xt eh! get your brother down there to bolster the arguement of epic wheelies on xr500A's !

Talking about DR's mate brougth this one & done it up as a DG racing rep colours . I fabricated a PE swingarm into the back of it & built one of my Exhaust for him & sorted a Geniune 3" supertrapp for him also to give it the real deal sound & look of the 80's ... Not the fastest thing out there but still a Hoot to blast the back twistes on . I'm looking at setting up a big carb onto it & another mate is going to attack the motor for afew more HP soon so may post up some pic's of progress as we go ..

Sorry Guys but you seem to be remembering the early DR`s with rose tinted glasses.

My best mate had one back in 82 at the same time as I had my PE400, and compared to the XR500 and the TT500 they were a SLOW P.O.S.
Here for a good time, not necessarily a long time

Funny that i dont recall them being fast or even saying they were fast, plus the thread title says:
"XR500 (and similar) legends and lies thread" and not a "mines bigger than yours twosmoke choker thread"

and yes Mxnut the DR500 was a slow pos but not all of us can ride your speed so it kept me happy
my first KB ride was on one too

ha ha looks like the short comings of the inferior 'legends' have upset Dino the defender.......sorry for not adding 'lies' as thread mentions however they are ok for what they are...........jst teasing!

Only reason XR5hundy riders struggled to pass PE's, was on account of the white/blue fog that covered the landscape and following bikes.
(MXnut is still fecking fast though)
