I'm thinking it would be very close to a religious experience indeed, but I do believe that unless your God this is an example of having to much power

There was a young guy on visordown back in the day who put a CR500 engine in a Gilera 125 motard chassis. Killed him first time out on it...

Have a mag article that shows a Vespa powered by a 500 stroke engine it had one track outing and then disappeared from the pages of NZ motorcycle history, will try and dig it out to get more details.

I dont think people relize how scary high Hp and torque and short chassis and small wheels can be

I had a 250 Gagiva gear boxed Go-kart and on old tires it was near impossible to carry any speed out of a corner without spinning out.
You also had to change gear almost immediately in each gear to not over rev it, though once on the straights it would gobble up the non gear boxed 100 & 125 carts like they weren't moving.

This young guy was at the "teaching himself to weld" stage.

Seen pics of a nice CRF250 engine in an 80cc frame...

ive just bought myself an xl500s..lets face it, i want an xr500A but its not happening at the mo..the examples that are croping up are either too rough or too Expensive or both! anyway the bike i got is original 16,000kms on the clock, comes with road gear but deregistered. a good enough start, itll get a general cleanup and a repaint in monza red/black and new decals and a re-vin..fingers x'd itll go through easy enough. also i must add that i have a mate who owned two xr500's back in the '80s one bought new...i must get him to join kb as he has a lot of xr500a pics. he is looking for another one (arent we all) so if anyone knows of an xr500a, xl500s etc let me know

    cheers, eddie.

Nice one Eddie, I nearly bought an XL500 in red a while back but got the auction closing times mixed up

I had A brand new 1979 XR500Z back in the day and perhaps subconsciously I couldn't settle for the XL even if it looked close

Thing is though My mate had an XL at the same time as I had the XR and I rode around on a couple myself later on and they are better on the road and don't stall like the XR off-road, I took and XL around the North Shore rocks years ago and it was unstoppable even at low speed so you probable got a good thing there as an all round ADV bike
