I need one of these.....
I purchased one of these new as an apprentice & ran it in on the ride down from Taupo to Petone Polytech for a block course.
I had it for about 6 mths then some wankers who I thought were mates, pinched it . The cops found it a few months later out at the Opepe reserve.
It was not until several years later that I found out who had stolen it soLeon

John. No doubt you're all still as fucking useless as you were then.
Yip mine had they higher gearing, used it for trips up to mums in tirua, the downhill on one ton straight always saw 140+, pretty gutless but with the lower gearing is was more than enough for a young fella to blast around papamoa beach on.
Remember the old stand on the back pegs to get the front up for wheelies![]()

Bollocks, get of your arse and go get it
Can anyone tell me which Hi-Flo oil filter fits the XR400/500 say 2002-Thanks in advance.
RFVC engines use the HF112.
Can get the 500 to cruise easy at 100kph, but then you're doin 40kph at idle in 1st,, not ideal for tricky bits!
Thinkin meybe if the overdrive 6th gear-pair from an 82 XR250 would fit in place of the 500's 5th gear-pair??
Last time I had both in parts on the bench, I figured the entire 6 speed cluster would fit into the 500 cases,,
but not much point really. lower gears would probably bust anyway.
Would also loose the rear balancer, and be doubtful the front one alone would do much either.
Day-dreamin,,,,,,
NordieBro has my old XR engine collection, including 6 speed setups and a new 6 speed crank.
The gears should fit.
There was just one bit of case that needed machining or something for the conversion?
Wow, what a difference on the smooth seal/asphalt!
Much smoother, don't feel every power-stroke like the bolt-on hub.
Recommend.![]()
I thought of you Muzz when I saw that....
I have just bought a clutch kit for my XR400--All my other bikes run wet clutches and I oil soak before fitting-This is my first dry clutch fit,do I fit dry straight out of the box or oil-Or any other "tricks"-Thanks in advance.
It will be a wet clutch. Soak overnight.
