Totara valley was a good ride. A bit dry and dusty which is an unusual state of affairs down there. Big turnout and a mint day. The final half was a bit paddock based, at least the 450's enjoyed it!

Spent day practicing trials techniques with a mate. Sometimes good to focus on basics. And then try some dumb stuff.

So everyone was telling me what a great ride it was and I thought it was decidedly average, the hill presented enough difficulty the first time round I wasn't going to bother with a second lap but the second time round without 20 bikes blocking every line you wanted to take it was easy peasy

So Terawhiti ride today, 40 stream crossings. All pretty easy, but that's only counting ones to your axles not puddles or bogs.
    Got a bit wet.

Every 8th time I reached for the brake lever I got a tingle.

So I need some better buttons. Strangely I opened the start/kill assembly and it seemed dry. I assumed it was the kill giving me a tickle from the cdi. Wouldn't think you'd feel 12v like that, although wet gloves.

Thoughts on better electric start button kill combo?

Grassmere station ride this weekend, has been a great ride in the past few years, very scenic, being in the middle of the Southern Alps and all!

    I’ll be there,
it’ll be interesting to see how many victims the river crossing claims, and how high the water level is, seeing as we’ve had a bit of rain

Bought a separate start button and kill, typical generic ones you see on YZs etc. Will put one on each bar.

Tomorrow I'm going on the JRL memorial ride, sort of a Trail ride for Trials bikes. Can be fairly involved. I went on an early explositary version as a fit 30year old and it nearly killed me.

Bit like the Scott Trial, then?

No, it's not scored or anything. I went with the cruisers rather than the silly buggers.
But it was so slippery it turned into a messy affair. A lot of crabbing along the side of steep tight endless hills with wet tree roots.

Sort of thing Chris Birch would struggle with. . . on a Superduke with slicks. Maybe.

I spent a bit of time crawling on my knees dragging a bike over things and lifting over tree trunks I didn't have the guts to fully attempt.

By the end I was knackered.

Sounds like it was an excellent day, when you got home.

Was not too bad. I still pushed my bike through rather than become the victim of didymo slime! Great ride! Fabulous weather-very dry which as a bit sad as the bogs were not up to much. Next weekend is Amberly.

Wellington ride today. I didn't go. Went to Trial instead.

Fantastic area. An old mate was there with another wisened hand. They pissed around like two old women. But so valuable for teaching lines and technique.

Also newbie turned up on Huski so let him ride my bike as well.

    I displayed some occasional mastery.

    Interdispersed with some complete muppetry.

Great day, but had to drop out with 25 of possible 30 sections (10 per lap) complete. Needed to get home as on a promise. Happy with performance there too.

Dansey's pass ride this weekend. Weather is looking good. Going to do the Advanced Tree loop this time. What could possibly go wrong!
