Without a decent amount of rain it's a bit shit, last two times I have done it it's been dry, rock hard ground (I checked) the first time I did it there were a few muddy bogs which made it more interesting

How was Amberley? I am guessing hot, dusty and an excess of tapped out 450's ?

Fuck knows I did 5 forks on Saturday, 50 km loop, 3 hours for the first one after going into an enduro against my better judgement and getting stuck for a bit and doing one other enduro and a couple of muddy deviations, maybe 2 hours for the next one not doing any enduros

Sunday went to Te Moana on the way home for some forestry riding, then sat in the river and drank beer in 28 degree heat

Was 5 Forks worth the trip? we are planning to go to Te Moana sometime. Is it easy enough to find your way around?

It's a pretty good ride but not amazingly better than some of the other rides we do, worth doing at least once, I only went as a friend invited me and he had accommodation on a friend's farm which was part of the track, so we stayed about 1km from the start

Te Moana was pretty good but we only spent about an hour or two looking around, it's pretty much ride up the road looking for tracks off the side and follow your nose, we're thinking we'll go back and camp there at some stage and have a better look around

We found what seemed to be a main trail and followed that, we could see other tracks off it, some of which were a lot steeper than I'd be prepared to try

We went in off Leishman's road about 3-4km up, It looked to be an old forestry track but apparently you can go off either road, we parked at the fork in the road by the ford

Entries for Waiau are now open as well

Sorry if I keep polluting this thread with non canty rides.
    .Gladstone.

Was pretty slippery at first. Was muppeting around but okish.
Then it rained 20km in of 33km loop and I wanted to tap out as it got slick.

Rested after a Steak sarnie. Went out by myself. Dry track. Different ride. Different rider. Fuck was fun and less tiring when you aren't scared of the brake lever.

Had enough energy to consider a 3rd loop but guys packing up so quite while ahead.

Probably a good idea. Had energy to wash bike, put dinner in oven and wife in shower.
What a great day and just about to eat.

Ride while you can. Tomorrow it may be gone.

Yes, organised by Precision M/C. Sounds like they will have access to some great land.
