When I originally thought about it I thought to put it at the top but then I realised bottom is better for me as I ride with the visor open. Does give more flexibility at the bottom as you don't need to drop your head too far if the sun is really low.

Don't you get hit in the face with all sorts of debris with an open visor? I never ride with an open visor faster than about 30kmh.

Not so much that it's a pain. I always wear wrap around sunnies so I don't get the breeze in my eyes. That would be the irritating part for me. I've learned to look away if a big truck comes my way throwing up a pile of dust. I can quite comfortably toodle along at 80kph with the visor up though. You do get the odd bug though ... and once, a bumblebee.

There was of course that unfortunate incident one day that left me with a face full of seagull shit. Must have been an albatross with the shits as he unloaded about three months worth in my general direction. I believe the stuff I got on my face wasn't a direct hit though ... it was the splatter from the load that hit the fairing screen.

It's funny. As a racer I choose helmets with the most open visibility, and I don't have to concern myself with oncoming traffic...at least until I spin the thing around.

Agreed. Internal sun visors are brilliant 80% of the time but most have a weak dark tint and don't filter out much when it's 'in your face' bright sun strike.

I wear my internal visor Shark helmet from Autumn to Spring. In Summer I switch lids to my Nitro with full time dark visor fitted.

Red face Yeah, I have something similar

I have had this in place for years.
I have used white reflective tape, bordered by black trim tape, looks quite professional IMHO.
I did have it all the way across but found when looking down at the instruments I had to tilt head down which became a pain.
So I cut the middle section out and find I just have to tilt my head to the side a wee bit with visor raised to block out the sun.
Works quite well. I have considered a strip at the top as well, like a see through dark blue or something , like the what cars have.
You can buy all this stuff from your local Signage Shops, heaps about they will sell bits and pieces or even give you off cuts for nicks.
    If you smile right.

Only problem with shades is in an accident the helmet can be moved quite a bit. Think about it, it can get un-pretty. Glasses tend to be smaller but still a risk.

I have a couple of velcro patches pretty much out of eyesight on top of my visor & carry a dirtbike goggle strap with velcro so I can strap it in bad sunstrike. It has rubberised bits to stop it slipping so its ideal.

Reminded me I also had one of these on my old helmet which didn't have an internal sun visor:

Worked pretty well in combination with the photochromic (?) lenses on my specs (which I don't have anymore).
Moe: Well, I'm better than dirt. Well, most kinds of dirt. I mean not that fancy store bought dirt. That stuffs loaded with nutrients. I...I can't compete with that stuff.

Black electrical tape across top of the visor works for me, and yeah I close the bugger so the tape across the bottom of the visor seems odd to me...but heck if it works for ya
