Ive noticed most bike shops are distinctly cool to potential customers.
It seems to help if you ride up on a decent looking bike, you look less like a tyre kicker.

Bought a blade because they made it easy at cyclespot recently, the guy all but threw the keys at me.
Pity the after sales service wasnt up to spec, most of my servicing will probably be done elsewhere.

    Thumbs down

I will never use EMoto again after the performance in fixing my Aprilia after the Earthquakes.

Hey man, do you like your life? If you do I would remove the above message from your posts.

If someone from IRD sees it or some disgruntled member dobs you in you will be in a world of hurt. They have more power than most people know and they use it.

Sorry to bump thread with unrelated post. I a bit new so didn't know right way to approach this...

If you click on someone's name you can post a Visitor Message on their profile or send a Private Message if you've made more than some number (maybe 50?) posts.

To drag the thread further off topic; I thought the IRD would only get shitty if money changed hands?

nope, they want their fair (unfair) share of trades or barters, especially where there is a service provided, hell they even want dope growers and thieves to pay tax, IRD don't give a rats arse where they get their money from

I never have test ride issues. I have turned down offers because the bike offered wasn't what idd like to own or was above my budget.
Last test drive was a 14r with the wife on the back of it and ordered one a few days later.
I think my purchase to test ride rate would be close to 50% so that must make me the ideal consumer or would that be at 100%?

PS. Whats IRD got to do with bike shop service and test rides? A bit random.
I have evolved as a KB member. Now nothing I say should be taken seriously.

Barter is not illegal. Where does he say he won't declare it?

    1. The law makes no distinction between income from legal and illegal activities, nor should it
    2. Taxing someone that gets paid in barter the same as someone that gets paid in money is in fact 'fair'. Whether tax rates themselves are fair is another argument
    3. I got no problems with dope growers, thieves, hookers, whatever paying taxes like everyone else

Pete at Emoto employed Phil Sutton to fix my Ducati monster after damaged endured when some mongrels stole it. They did an excellent job and where friendly and professional throughout and on every subsequent visit, I have little doubt that I would be permitted a test ride if I was interest however I do consider it a matter of good faith to at least write the cheque before I test ride a MC.

In another I also era I also formed a dim view Casbolts and only went if I needed new Ducati parts quickly. However when I decided on the 1199 there seemed little choice but to give them a second chance and I'm glad I did. The service has been excellent ever since I am greeted by name by most of the staff and have accepted joy rides on some of the more interesting models when having my bike serviced. They've been great.
I have been VERY impressed too at the quality of service and range of gear at both Avon City and Hamptons.
I getting carried away now but while we're plugging dealers Superior are right up the top of my list for service they have provided me on a ktm I bought privately. Always greet me by name and have been very helpful and a source of much wisdom.

There we are, rave all done now.

Back when Peter was working out of a small garage with his daughter I bought the ST4s off him. Flew down and road it home. I must say that the overall service experience could not be faulted. This is back in 06. I have bought a couple of parts off him since and dealing directly with Peter the experience has been great.
No experience with the service side of things though.
Perhaps he needs to educate or change his staffing model...............

I was in Emoto on Thursday just browsing around and had a good experience.
I was straight up and told them I wasn't looking to buy from them and just asked about their servicing, local rides and the usual "I'm from out of town but need to know some local knowledge" garb.
Nothing but friendly and helpful info from a lovely young lady on the desk who then put me onto a mechanic (motard rider) who took the time for a yarn about everything I was after.

I walked in to EMoto with my parents when they were in town, and from the outside the situation would have appeared that they were going to buy me a bike (unfortunately not the case however). We received pretty shitty service and for the most part were ignored. A week or two later I walked in to Trevor Pierce with a learner license, no gear, and wearing a University hoody, and went for a test ride within 20 minutes. The same can be said for Avon City Suzuki, only been in there a couple of times but they have always approached me and asked if I wanted a hand with anything, despite myself clearly being a poverty stricken student.

Just got back from Chch, went with my son and another old biker (we are both 67) had a bundle of cash and all ready to buy a CF Moto for my boy,Cash. That tool in EMOTO wouldn't let any of us, sit on one, or ride one, and he couldn't have one on the road for 4 days. Wouldn't even let us take a leak in his dunny. Virtually told us to piss- off. Couldn't be bothered. Told me he was selling 10 a day and no-one had test rides these days. I have never met such a waste of time in all my 67 years. Went 2 blocks to Road and trail in Carlyle St. and paid cash, picked up the bike early next morning and the boy rode it home to Westport. A lot easier if you just give EMOTO a big miss, it'll save you a half hour of your' life...
