Restricted Licence Route Rotorua

I've just registered my bike after a 3 month winter lay off. I was riding my pushbike in the Pyrenesse for a month during that time, awesome roads for motor bikes as well. http://travel.topicwise.com/doc/Pyrenees2013
I've been on my learners for a while now and decided I'd better do something about getting my restricted before my time runs out.
Has anyone sat their restricted in Rotorua since the new tests came in early 2012? If so I'd really like to know the route they took you on, so I can have a cruise around it and check it out.

Hey Brian,
My friend Jac sat her restricted in Rotorua a couple of months ago, I'll point her in the direction of this thread, and she can tell you more about the test. From memory she went across Fenton street, around in circles in Glenholme for a while (showing you know what to do at intersections), then a few k's on the open road towards Atiamuri, then turn around and go back again. My full license test in 2007 was basically the same course.
The testers in Rotorua are pretty good, and they give you an earpiece to give you instructions during the test.

Hi Brian, I too am just home from my winter sojourn in US. No, of course I cant help with the route you require...had my 6 for 40 years now!
But we must catch up now spring is springing and almost suitable for motorcycling, lets do something together this year eh!!!

I just got my restricted license in Rotorua. We did quite a bit of tootoing around Fenton St area stopping and giving way, going around roundabouts and then headed out Atiamuri way to near the dump, turned around in a gravelly pull in and then returned. I had a headset and it was a bit hard to hear the testing guy who was following in his car! The tester guy said that I should ride in the centre of the road more, otherwise no problems.

I already had my eyes checked and they are 20 20 BUT I couldn't see one row of numbers in their onsite test (very strange!!! but not uncommon) so I needed a quick checkup (spec savers) to say my eyes could cope with motorbike riding

Thanks every one, I rode the 200km round trip to Rotorua today, some people think it's only 70km, and had a play at the roundabouts, intersections, traffic lights, merging, changing lanes etc. I actually found it easier than in a car or the mobil home, tho if the instructor would think so I'm not sure.
Thanks for the mention about the eyes Jac, I wear contacts mostly now and with one eye for long distance and one eye for reading I definitely wouldn't pass their test. I'll have to get a note from Spec saversor wear my glasses. Also your comment about the ear piece is worrying as after yrs sitting on a tractor the hearing isn't the best. Or is it I'm just falling apart
Yes Jamie we'll have to try and meet up for a ride, once things warm up. Tho today was nice.

I need some help. I've been trying to find out how they expect you to do U turn. But no luck anywhere, the road code, NZTA or googling.

Feet up, controlled and ffs do not hit anything cumin the other way Brian!!!
Btw, I am wanting an old buggered cycle tube, would you have 1 I could steal please?

Heard back from a mate of mine & he's sorted out any queries I had. I dropped those bicycle tubes on the back of the chair by the front door. Have fun mowing.
