    Warrant of fitness - WTFs

so I took my Bandit to vtnz (first mistake) and they failed it on
1: Indicator flash rate to high
    2: chain to tight
    3: rear brake pads shot

this happened on friday, got the bike back from service (full service, new tyres) and would of expected them to check that sort of thing...
so after a polite rant to the bike shop i took it back in this morning (saturday)
1: chian had enough slack (was on the tight side of the limit)
2: rear brake pads only half worn (got replaced for warrant any way)

so after apologizing to the bike shop (after passing the warrant)

when i went for the retest i mentioned
1: the brake pads were fine
    2: the Chain was fine
3: the brake light was not working but it was still passed (faulty switch, now replaced)

    NOT ONE FUCK WAS GIVEN!

any one else had similar problems...
where do you go for your wof
(in Rotorua, bike shop recommended AA)

Why would you get the bike shop to service but not warrant your bike.

Anyone who takes a bike to VTNZ for a warrant is a moron.

I'm noticing less and less shops able to do WOFs. Both dealers I use do not to WOFs... pain in the ass, but they're the only ones I trust with the bikes.

Said it on here before. VTNZ are a bunch of failed mechanics or stupid indian/asian cunts.
I failed for a loose chain there once and the old cunt wouldn't let me borrow his spanner and stand to fix it right there.

I go to Action Wreckers now, atleast I can spin a good yarn with the bloke there and he actually knows shit about motocycles...

I get my bike warrants done at Boyds as most VTNZ staff can't tell an oil filler cap from their arsehole.

Thanks for that, I prefer to think of us as organisationally-challenged, or maybe naievely optimistic?

FWIW I've had good warranting experiences with VTNZ (New Lynn and Parnell in Auckland) but then being a moron, what would I know.

I get vtnz to do mine because they are to scared to ride it to test anything new and shiny and they don't charge as much.
Most of the Welly mechanics would do wheelies on my bike if they had the chance lol.

Even the trailer got a push down on the suspension and a check of lights and had a plate issued within minutes. Guess they don't want to scratch or break anything here.

Did they fiddle with your rear brakes?

Why didn't you adjust the chain BEFORE you took it in for the WOF test? If they let every Tom Dick and Harry do fixes on the spot think how long the lines would be. I am pretty sure if you were in the line and saw some arsehole in the testing bay doing fixes to his vehicle you would have summat to say.
BTW I agree with the stupid curry muncher and tiddlywink part of your post.

VTNZ is the only one certified to do warrants for motorcycles in our 1 horse town, none of the 5 motorcycle shops can do them. But we are lucky to have some blokes that know a thing or 2 about a thing or 2 in our VTNZ. I have been called a lot worse than a moron too, so your safe silent, for now.

    +1

I keep my bikes well maintained & tip top working condition. I've had nothing but excellent WOF experiences at my local VTNZ for the past 6 years.

I went to VTNZ as I realized it had lapsed. Old fart got upset when he said my light was to high so I moved it down a bit. Single round light so with a bit of force it moves. I had to catch the bike when he got on as he couldnt handle the weight. He made a comment about new bikes being to high and heavy.

Will go back to my normal guy next time.

    Same

I've used VTNZ heaps of times without any problems, they're convenient and normally get through it fairly fast, does no one ever have a bad experience getting one done at a bike shop?
