I parked here for 10 minutes while I went to PB Tech downtown. I have been parking here for years - from the time that they had a warden there. I hadn't parked there for a while though but came back assuming it was fine to park there. The video explains the rest, what do you all think?

I got a parking ticket in Windermere ( Lake district in England ) in September last year. 70 pounds / $140 NZ. I have refused to pay it and bought to the attention of the relevant council how it leaves a sour taste in the mouths of tourists staying in their district. I also reminded them of how their country happily used colonials as cannon fodder in 2 world wars. Bastards.....

Classic. I bet your letter is framed just for the laugh it gives them.

You should have mentioned who was first up Everest while you were at it.

I wouldn't waste the day off going to court, just cough up.
Very sociable of you to bleat about the other bikes not having tickets.

Na really mate that is a lot of bullshit. I also noticed the proper bays have a line at the front of the bay connecting the side lines and where you were parked there is no such line so it seems plain to me that it is not a proper parking bay. I think you have a good case to get out of it but it will prolly cost you more in time off work than the ticket is worth.

I think you are screwed. Pay your road tax and next time don't take a car parking space.

But seriously challange it and it will probably be dropped.

Yes, yes I do have sausage fingers - in the process of losing them at the gym lol.

I agree with you but small claims is going to cost me $45 and can't I also ask them to pay for my time as well as costs if I go down the court method?

You're screwed mate. Their explanation seems perfectly valid to me.

    1. The previous operator didn't mind, the new one does.

    2. The space you're in, although not marked, is big enough to fit a car. Therefore, you are depriving the carpark operator of potential revenue.

I agree, that is not a cearly defined parking space. There might be room there to use it as such, but in that case it needs to be painted as such, as you pointed out with 3 lines showing the left, right and end confines of the space. The other angled park to the left of it in the video has all three lines, leaving a triagle of empty space, showing how a legit angled park would be defined.

Talking of those little angled ones, you could always squeeze your bike into there next time? No way that could ever be a car park.

The way it was explained to me by the guys at the Civic carpark was that ANY space that a car (even a small one) could fit was a legitimate space unless marked otherwise. Any vehicle parked in it that has not paid will be fined (thankfully for me they were just handing out warnings that day).
