you need a split pin. the pin part goes thru the hole in the threaded bar (axle) then has one half loop back up to stop it coming out, hte other end is the head and fits into a grove/slot cut in the nut, this stops the nut from turning back on the axle.

No. Use a proper split pin. They're there for a purpose. Copper wire is soft, might stretch, break, or just allow the nut to loosen anyway. Not knocking you, just answering.Originally Posted by justsomeguy
