    Kawasaki Zxr250

Hey everyone I am new to this forum.

Anyway i am going to be purchasing a zxr250.
My first question is whats the difference between the A and C?

I am going to be buying it privately and the bike has 21000 clicks and has a cracked cam so th engine makes a louer sound..

My question is, is 21000 alot for a zxr250? Can i get a replacement for the cam? Also hows the maintenance on these bikes? Also is there any after market body parts for this bike because i cant seem to find any on the net..eg.cowling etc..

    Thanks

Hey ya mate and welcome to the site firstly.

21000km is not that bad, my one has over 60,000kms on it.

What do you mena by cracked cam????, If the cam is cracked it's not going anywhere in a hurry, new cam needed and maybe some other bits as well, could be $$$$$, if i suspect you are meaning the cam chain tensioner is a bit stuffed you can get a new one and it's not overly expensive, you just have to manually adjust them form time to time, no biggie, just part of looking after ya bike. Like oiling a chain, no more than looking after ya NSR, what year NSR do you have BTW?

The A models are slightly older 89-92 or is it 91, most notable diff is the headlights and body work, some minor changes but mostly the same bike, you cant go much wrong with either bike, they are both really kick arse bikes to have.

Dont know of many people that do aftermarket fairings that are different from stock fairings, someone else might be able to help you out here, but am sure someone in the know with fibre glass could make something up, but dont expect it to be cheap.
The other option is if you wanted to look at grafting other bikes fairings onto yours, say Aprillia RS250 tail peice, TYGA make some pretty trick looking fairing kits for NSR's and VFR/RVF's, maybe some of them are able to fit onto your ZXR with a bit of modding.

Anyhow if the cam is indeed cracked stay away from it unless it's cheap as chips, but if it's just the tensioner it's normal for this to happen to these bikes. And as i said easy enough to fix, if left alone though, the cam chain ends up punching a hole in the top of the rocker cover (been there done that) and it can get messy.

    All the best
