    Kawasaki EX250

Hi, I recently got my learners and so am in the market for a bike up to $3500. I have found one in Auckland but I am based in Wellington. The person who replied to my email said the bike could be sold for $3500 incl. shipping. Anyone know if this is too good to be true or if it's safe. I have no experience so would like some help with advice. Many thanks

Cheers, I'm not after a bike to become a long term project. Learning to maintain, fix and ride to work in Wellington is my main priority. Insurance write off may just not be worth the hassle for me atm. Only recently have I wanted to become a little selfish and do something for myself and no one else.

I see many GN250's around on TradeMe and locally on the road that are <$2k but I have too much of a research mindset that I just keep getting put off via google searching as scrolling the foums here - rust, oil, Chinese for newer models aren't on par with Japanese. I rode a GN125 for my Handling & Skills and it was very enjoyable but the discussions can be more negative than positive. I do understand though that it comes down to owners and not solely the bikes fault that it can become like this so would still very super happy to have one for myself. I'm more of a practical buyer imo than trying to spend the most money for vanity purposes.

Thanks for the tip about gear. My semi-idea is to spend $1k on some 'decent' gear so that I can feel more confident if something were to happen down the road.

The only learner bike I ever recommend is the good old GPX 250

faq.ninja250.org has all the information you could ever want about the bike.

I wouldn't pay more than $2000 for one though.

I doubt that. The newer ones (00+) were $7k brand new I am pretty sure. I doubt the old ones were $9k brand new.

Even the updated EX250J (new ninja 250) were less than $9k.

Actually the EX250J was around $8k brand new but I had to have the newest one so I paid the extra grand for a EX250K.

The K model is the FI version.

Ah sorry my bike got stolen around the time FI went on sale here so I stopped reading about them. Didn't realise they were K models (and forgot about the price).
