    My Little Special

...this is my Velocette 250...it's a complete and utter special... it's a shortened stroke MAC that now calls itself an MOV...it is a complete joy to race/ride and doesn't handle much different to my bucket...the fibre timing gear chewed itself up at Nelson Street Races about three years back...fixed that and then the front end which is completely Velo factory down to the seals let go at the next years NSR...I was taking huge chunks out of the distance between me and a BSA 350 ahead of me when the steering damper rod parted company at the base of the forks...I bounced off the bales and got away without any damage other than the front end...since then, earthquakes, lack of money and a certain lack of skills in dealing with such old stuff has had it waiting for original bits and the like...recently my friend and saviour at times like this, Kenny Pope turned up for a while...his eq house repairs have left him houseless and therefore bedless while they fuck him around...one mans dilemma is often anothers opportunity...in between playing guitars on the verandah in the evenings and Ken playing with the Velo in the shed during the last few days, this is the result...

yeah Greg, the eqr, insurance and related arseholes have left them fairly high and dry with a long wait to come , it seems...my big plan was to get the velo up to the BSOC...in fact it was the only plan I had this year...but in the words of Mick Jagger, 'you cant always get what you want'...but she is running well, time to get her out to the B Track for a long awaited reunion with my leathers and stuff very soon...

...the history I know of, goes back some years down south here...a fellow Soult was maybe builder or associated with the building...I have spoken with his son about it, and had a bit of a chat with him, but he was too old and crook to give me any detail...?

I believe it's Salt...and i'd be surprised if he built it. He was a trader of note and probably most of the race bikes of that period in Canty have passed through his hands. Trying to think of names still alive who may be able to help with history. Bas chambers or geoff mardon would be worth asking.

Haven't heard Bob Entwhistle's name for years...
