RIP, sad to hear, I myself was enjoying the weather this weekend too. A sobering Monday morning reminder of how fragile we actually are. My condolences to his family and friends.

    Very sad indeed.

Not good at all. My condolences.

This makes me even more glad that I plucked up the courage and did an ACC sponcerd advanced riding course yesterday.* Something I now believe should be done by all riders and regularly as a refresher. I've been riding since 1982 (most of that time daily) but I still found it very useful.

*Just to be clear, I don't know the rider or the circumstance of the accident; in no way do I mean imply anything about their riding ability.

It happened on a gentle curve there was a brake mark before the curve no other marks on the street. He was found still attached to the bike about 5 meters from where he left the road.
There are no other details at this stage of what and why, if the family will allow it I will update the thread with future details.

I know if I didn't have my friend arranged to meet me for a drink the evening of my crash it would have been a similar outcome as 111 were never called and no one else knew I was missing.

A tragic reminder to riders to always let others know where they are heading, especially if riding alone. I am so saddened to hear of the outcome today.
Agreed. I used to text a guy mate at regular intervals when on long trips. Now I dont bother cause he made out like I was stupid for doing so, so I just text others instead.
Becoming fearless isn't the point. That's impossible. It's learning how to control your fear, and how to be free from it.
