you speed, you pay. Simple. It's a tad over the top him resigning i reckon, but hey, i suppose cops need to live by the laws the enforce...
I am very interested in joining the police, i would love to be in the armed offenders, but i KNOW that i would be one of the cops speeding etc, so i never will join because it is not a good look to be hypocritical. Plus then i would have to resign also...not cool!

So he lied. In your favour sure but I wonder if he'd continue the lie if you defended it.

So what are people pissed off the fact that he was speeding or that he got a light fine?

All of us will do something in the future or have done that goes against what we are "standing/employed" for. for example most of us signed a not to use the internet for personal stuff at work thing but if you reading this at work guess what you broke the law (company law). So the fact that he was speeding well we all do but he should have known better being a cop and all.

On getting a light fine. I will use the internet thing again if a company wants too they can legaly go through a dismisal process of getting you ass fired and trust me they are well aware of your private internet usage at work so basically most of us is getting away with something every day.

No the cop should not have been speeding.
No the punishment should not have been so low but he got away with so good on him.

I bet you if it was a KB member that got of so light we would have been happy for him (Well most of us at least)

Sure SD, but unfortunately since the LTSA and gummint have chosen to operate their campaign on the moral high ground ("If you speed, be prepared to kill"), any apparent personal weakness by those charged with enforcement is natcherly judged harshly by the public.
Not of the cops' making but that's the environment they're working in.

Not in the same league I know, but look at Rev Capell.........

dumbass should of done a runner, had a bit more to lose than a few dollars an a licence being a cop, they get it way worse when they are caught, and the resignation was really a you resign or your fired type resignation im sure.

    - if i get snapped by a cop having a joint i dont get looked at twice,
but if it was a cop with the joint, hed lose his job or be made to resign. bit rough

Not sure about that, now that a precedent has been set at Waimate. No job loss even with a dangerous driving conviction.

A conviction for exceeding 100kph wouldn't have ended his career. How do I know? Because I have seen others convicted of the same offence who weren't sacked or otherwise encouraged to resign.

I'm willing to bet that the guy might have had other performance orientated issues and the speeding thing was just the last straw. Either that or he has a desire to join KB and become the new Lou.

He'll be far to young and stupid (just left the Police and all), he'll need years of experience to develop the requisite vitriol.
But, having said that, I would accept a protege for a suitable training fee.

Perhaps he is lurking here and has seen the AMPS vacancy? You could take him under your wing and lead him to the dark side.

bit hard to lose your job though, isn't it Mikey?

If he'd been a general duties cop I might have felt a modicum of sympathy for the guy, after all, he was still going slower than I probably hit on the way to work this morning, but a serving member of the Highway Patrol? These are the same anally retentive fellas and fellesses that enforce Andy's bollocks. No sympathy at all.

What is the core function of their job? Busting people for speeding and if they're really lucky, busting em for doing something dangerous on the road. Road safety. Isn't 162km/h really really really f***ing dangerous? Well they tell us it is!

Imagine how things would go down if a drug squad member got busted selling P? Would we all be climbing on the band wagon and saying how human he was, he did the honorable thing by resigning, must have had other performance issues besides the drug dealing that lead to his resignation... don't think so batman.

162, 122, 186, 105, 212, 191... blah blah... they're meaningless numbers on paper. 162 kph - so fucking what! Only brainwashed handwringers would piss their pants over it. We all know grunty bikes hit the ton in seconds. The dumb cop got caught because he stuffed up. Most likely just wet behind the ears is all. If it's empty road, bugger-all traffic, no danger, then big deal! Chill out. You can bet Redson or Redfield or whoever the hell he is - is an arsehole in real life. Wrecking a workmates' life because of a few pathetic bullshit figures on some bullshit electronic gadget - makes Redland a queer c**nt - bottom line. The cop had his whole career and future hanging completely on Redlins whim for those few long minutes they faced each other, and they both knew it. Reddon chose to fuck over his brother in arms. End of story.

Hey, its you isn't it? The dumb arse cop that got caught speeding. I knew you'd be lurking around here someplace. Whats the real reason you resigned?

And whats with the number 33 handle? Were you the 33rd speeder he caught that day or the 33rd cop he's caught speeding in his career?
