On road speed camera, can it see speeding motorbikes?

Hi Guys, I'm a newbie here and I have been riding motorbikes here in NZ for almost 2 years now. I am just curious about one thing... can a fixed speed camera on the road see a speeding motorbike? because I noticed that most bikers here in NZ rides faster than cars... I mean, they usually go more than the speed limit most of the times. Your feedback will be greatly appreciated.

They cant see your plate if you are traveling towards them, so they have no way of identifying you. Unless the asshole inside writes down your plate as you go past, but apparently the lasted APR vans have a second camera facing forward to catch bikes.

PFFT! I don't think so. Bikers are law abiding roadusers. If they seem faster than cars ... well then ... that's because MOST car drivers travel at well under the allowable speed.

Thanks a lot for the feedback guys.... it does makes a lot of sense. because I thought that maybe bike are a lot smaller than cars to be sensed by the speed gun/camera. I therefore conclude that u may approach a fixed post speed camera on a higher speed and if ever you get flashed by it, still nothing to worry coz we don't have a plate number in front unless you are wearing an open faced helmet in which they can identify you... am I right? Umm..not quite.

If they get your number plate (front or rear facing camera) and you are speeding, you will get the fine. They do not need to prove it was you (open face helmet showing your face) for you to get a ticket like in some other countries.

I tried finding some hard data on this but failed to find any information on the smallest size a radar detector can see. I've been told it's 1 square foot of cross sectional area (a bit larger than an A4 piece of paper) but that could be wrong. Either way it's smaller than a motorcycle.

Some people will tell you that motorcycles cannot trigger the loops in the road for the fixed position speed cameras but that is bullshit too.

Well, those random lighty sign things that tell you your speed, pick up bikes no probs so I guess the fuzz guns will do even betterer. But it does beg the question. Why would you want to break the law & the speed limit? Naughty. Have you not seen the propaganda? Speed kills.
Big, fuck off yellow trailer thing with a flashing sign parked in a layby in the middle of a corner keeps telling me so when I drive past every morning. Well the last few days anyway. I guess it's the road safety investment for Northland this year & will do the rounds as the tourettists invade.

Yes they can pick you up, years ago riding into Cambridge, myself and MadDuck were waving furiously (yes some bikers DO wave) at a fixed camera in order to set it off, we were sure it flashed. A short while later, I was given the headlight warning from an on-coming police car but that's another story.

Pisses me off how cop drive by can monitor speed. Back where I come from only a fixed camera can be used for a fine. So now it's side roads with twisties so cops don't get scan time and rather go easier highway route.

Remember those awesome temporary speed signs they used to have that would measure your speed, but kept showing it even if you were over?

I'd always go as fast as possible to see what speed you could hit.

I mean, I'd respect the law
