+1 to this, and are RUCs charged at the same rate as an ancient, dirty diesel?

Ah yup, would be cool to see how people get on with the commercial models here in NZ. I hear NZ recently updated some of the tech legislation around safety regulation for registering them or something.

What do you want to know Steve? My old man has a couple and has been buying mods etc for it. I've tried telling him that buying a motorcycle would be easier.....

Just keen to have a chat with him about it.
He comes past me in the mornings and evenings while I am cycling to work and home and it is pretty cool.
I am pretty sure it is a Zero from the USA, but still keen the have a chat.

Um... the Zero is an electric motorcycle. They were reviewed by motorcycle Sport and Leisure in maybe 2010 when Zero were prototyping an offroad bike (where is was surprisngly good), then in 2011 for the first launch of their road machine. They re reviewed the road machine last year and Alan Cathcart really rates it. Range varies but typically 130 miles between charges just like my bike. Top speed isn't amazing but certainly licence-losing. And a FLAT torque curve as per an electric motor, i.e. instant torque. Eat that, traffic-light-grand-prix-wannabe. Boom. (well, a silent "boom" at least).
I've seen adverts from bona-fide respected motorcycle dealers in the UK offer the bike as well.
    NOT an electric bicycle.

Stevey B - I have some articles on it from Motorcycle Sport and Leisure. Shall I scan and send to you?
I've seen the guy once as I commute into Petone myself. I was late for work on this occasion, so I don't see him normally. He was in the Weltec area on Cuba Street, Petone.

    Hey mate.
No worries about the articles, there is plenty available on the internet.
He goes down the Esplanade. Tried to keep him in sight this morning, but lost him.

    Cheers.
