I want to ride your secret single track while in NZ for vacation 12/7/13 - 12/12/13

    Greetings from Northern California,

I'll be in NZ for vacation and have 1 week without the wife that I'd like to spend riding single track. Does anyone have the time and spare bikes to ride? Or steer me in the right direction to rent. Or possibly buy and re-sell. I'd like an offroad specific bike, such as ktm 250/300 exc, 400/450/525 exc, Yamaha wr, gasgas ec, etc.
Another option is an adventure trade. You treat me to bike/secret single track adventures, and then come to California and I'll return the favor. I have many nice bikes to choose from: KTM 200/300/400/525 exc, Husaberg fe450, Yamaha yz426. Northern California has vast amounts of offroad terrain, such as Clear Creek, the Sierras, Lake Tahoe, etc..

I fly into Auckland on 12/6. Don't have any agenda other than meeting the wife in Wellington on 12/12. I've seen some video of nice trails in the mountains north of Wellington. What would you suggest?

Do you mean that Akatarawas and Rallywoods? They are big up there with 4x4ers, probably some decent bike trails in there too.

The Westcoast of the South Island has some awesome trails and scenery, but it might be a bit out of the way unless you find some company.

    Hey Tim,

While I don't tend to do dual sport bikes any more (I had two but they got stolen) and I'm not really into tight weavey single trail, I do have two mx bikes to take on trail rides and there is an organised trail ride at Gladstone (about 1hr nw of Wellington) on the 14th.

    See details here:
    http://www.silverbullet.co.nz/event.php?id=10800

and video of what it has been like other years here:

If that interests you let me know.

Happy to take you on a tour of Karapoti (north of wellington). Ktm's 350 / 530 (road legal) or some old school big bore's. Just give a shout and we organise it. Kapiti 4x4 do a great quad tour as well. I have some gear like small to medium helmets, 44 - 48 size boots and plenty of knee guards gloves and jackets.
