Great Barrier Island trip?

Hi guys......i was thinking doing a trip to great barrier island on dirt bike...

is it any legal? is there police on the island?
Can i take dirt bike on ferry?

I know about 8-10 years ago you properly could as you didn't need to have a WOF but that has changed there are cops there not that there would be many tho.

Same road rules apply on the island as in Auckland. Yep, we have cops here. Responsible visitors welcome.

A thread regarding Great Barrier Island is posted and within 24 hours you join KB in order to reply? I wouldn't have thought you guys really needed an Internet Patrol but I guess it all helps.

Not sure if Forest and Bird would be too welcoming if I took my KX500 over there ....
