Pulled up at lights a couple of nights ago at the start of big dual carriageway with a long straight before a speed camera. R1 pulls up alongside me. It was dry, so yes, much opening of throttles at the lights.
For just a moment, I was ahead... and I really do mean a moment. Reckon less than a second before he went flying past on a giant wave of power.
There was another bike, but whatever that was, it was left trailing in our respective wakes!
Pointless.... but fun.
Which is the whole point, really.
But with more point... the next night, pull up at same set of lights and some sporty looking car pulls alongside. And starts the whole "I'm really flash and sporty" routine. Revving the engine, rolling foward a few inches etc.
Like he was ever going to out-pull a bike from standing. I'd not been bothered at all, until he started "the routine".
So... paid attention, set myself up in "launch position" and when the lights changed... all I could see was a little speck on the horizon behind me...
Carried on at same pace until I was closing on the speed camera, so braked firmly to slow myself (nice dip of front). And watched with some amusement as sportcar man comes flying up, trying to catch me, obviously thinking he is getting there... then realises he is about to fly past a speed camera and slams on the anchors!
Bored now, so I upped the pace past the camera enough to make him work, but then let him on his way.
Oh what fun we have on two wheels...
