I love doing that sort of work, and doing it with the Popo uniform allows me to just bowl up and talk to people.

I don't love cutting people down from trees after they have hung themself, dealing with shoplifters and domestics. I did that for long enough to have done my time.

Now I do what I'm passionate about. Because I can.

Even with those who didn't have the licences they should have, and who got tickets. They are having to choose between a training session and paying the ticket, hope it's not too tough a choice.

Sour note at the end of the day when a bloke took offence that ACC has contracted one training provider, and he felt that I was promoting that training providers business while working for the gubbermint.

I was actually promoting rider training, mostly funded by ACC, and I couldn't GAF about who provides that training. As it happens, ACC have contracted providers. Not my fault, but I got an earful about it.

It's the leftover promo stuff from the checkpoint that I'm posting out. I'd rather it went to riders than sat in a box under my shared desk.

The rant I got from the last bloke has left me feeling like it was a bad idea, trying to promote training. Just a feeling. I think that on balance it was great, but I'm feeling a bit down about it.

Problem is, I GAF. Sure life would be easier if I didn't.

    About more than donuts.

Akzle, you seem like a sad little man. RC is doing something to help others, perhaps a concept that is too alien for you to grasp.
RC pressure gauge please, will PM.

i just wonder, because quite often the shoe has been on the other foot. i'm all placid and trying to discuss the finer points of law, while the officers (even a sergeant, no less, but he must have been about 14 so i don't know who's dick his daddy sucked...) are getting twitchy fingers near tasers and batons... 'de-escalate' or 'discuss' are foreign concepts.
you'd be a rare breed rasty.

i don't think anyone does. wire makes a particular kind of mess, and if it's been a couple of days... certainly not an enviable part of your job, but is it really? i'm fairly sure suicide is illegal, but you can't charge a carcass...

although, shoplifters i could vent a bit of frustration on quite happily.

Just hand addressed the 28 envelopes to those who have requested so far.

Amusing time, addressing envelopes to usernames.

I just hope when they arrive and get uplifted from the mailbox by someones mum, that mum knows who the addressee is

I managed a wry smile at those who asked for things, but didn't give me an address. DOH !!!

BTW, I'm okay if you just want it addressed to your user name. I'm not keeping the names, addresses etc for work purposes, so if you have concerns, just don't tell me your name.

Hi ho, Donut hunting I go.......

    P.S.

I have lots of pucks, but limited pressure gauges.

I'll just keep posting stuff out until I run out. Please don't be disappointed. I can only give away what I have.

I'll post when I run out of stuff.

Just a question on the course you promote.

Is there somewhere near central otago that does it?.

Dan ornsby was going to do one in central but did'nt get enough reply's and theres a course that's run in alex by a m,c shop owner that trains learner drivers but don't think there the one's that do this course.

wouldn't mind having a bit of fun for the day and learning a bit instead of workin.

The ACC funding is all through three training providers nationwide. They used to use a lot more trainers, but decided to go with just three this year. It was through a tender process, anyone could apply, and he won. Dan has the majority of the South Island. He's the only one that gets the ACC subsidy AKAIK. I'm not involved in his company or business at all, so it doesn't concern me how it all works.

I just promote the www.rideforever.co.nz training, and it links to his company. Not my choice, theirs. I don't care how it's arranged, as long as someone is doing it.

That said, some local authorities i.e. Councils, have Road Safety Co-Ordinators who channel NZTA funding into training, so it'd be worth your while contacting your local council to see if they have any such arrangement down there. Ask to speak to their Road Safety Co-Ordinator.

Other option is to take a 3 day vacation to attend one of Dan's courses.

    Hope this helps.
