    1990 rmx250l engine parts questions

Hi Guys, my 1990 RMX250L Flywheel and crank have been through a war when i tried to replace my stator and are now not in a very serviceable state( the flywheel seized on , stripped the puller threads and then the end of the crank shaft was also mushroomed by the sheer force of the splitter as well), does anyone know if a later model crank shaft fit the engine? I believe the flywheel all the way up to 08 fits the bike no problems??

    any Help would be appreciated!

You can use the mrcycles.com website to look at the parts diagrams of the different years.
From the link to OEM cycle, theres the earlier 89-92 05D20 crank assembly, and the newer 93-98 29E10 assembly.
From the mrcycles links for the 92' N model http://www.mrcycles.com/oemparts/a/s...ft-model-l-m-n and the 93' P model http://www.mrcycles.com/oemparts/a/s...haft-model-p-r
the cases are the same, as are the crank bearing and seal dimensions. Suggesting that they would in fact crossover and a much newer crank can be used in the older models.
we may just go where no ones been

I would sure hope so, problem is that im not willing to sink 500+ into a "maybe at best" part not that i wouldnt be able to get bearings to suit readily enough, the problem would be the seals...

Im also on thumper talk, and have a guy looking into the differences on the cranks as he has a few apparently from what he knows the case bearing inner Diameter can range from 17-25mm and the outer also can range from 24-25.. or something along those lines. Im going to have to pull my crank anyways so im be measuring it up but cant do so till at leased next week

HOWEVER... Looking at just the bearing for the LH side of the crank.. it seams to go right from 1970's to 1996 for the RMX250's so the crank itself may not be all too differant... Ill be doing more research anyways

I think the main difference between the D and E series cranks is the type of rod assembly. The washer arrangement is different between them. The crank lobes look different, but like I said before, the cases, bearings and seals are the same, so how different can it really be.

    Wheres your sense of adventure.

I like that attitude for adventure, but i dont think my wallet will haha, and looking over the images of the differant cranks other than the webbing lobes looking differant it looks like the drive spline on the right side end of the crank can be vastly differant, maybe thats the ticket really to finding a 2nd hand replacement, pull out the crank and look at the drive splines to find a replacement that fits

It looks like though there are slight differances... the L M N P and R model crank shafts should fit, all the same bearings and final drives only the K model wont fit... in the years 1989-92 sooo hmmm may have to look over Ebay a bit harder for the look of these cranks.
