"offer to pay power or grocery bills to help with his recovery"

I'd opt with the power bill option, the poor guy is probably going to be eating baby food for the next while after his dental reconstruction.

    Nope.

Adults are given choice, we know the risks. The beauty of having a hobby is making personal decisions.

What I wonder is how someone does not see a meter deep hole.

A rider that is aware and observant of road conditions, would have.

and don't ride a bicycle, don't drive a car over 100 kmph, don't go the Viaduct after midnight, don't eat food in Bali, don't go fishing without a life jacket... and so on.

Yes, but maybe a bit harsh at the end, since we don't know the circumstances. It was 7:30am, he could have been riding into the sun or dealing with deep shadows, and may have dropped his speed to 20km/h already as a result (can't have been that quick to not break his neck, surely). But that's all speculation, of course. No-one knows and he can't remember.

That said, I do note the bloke isn't seeking to blame anyone unduly and suggests his attention failed, which is to his credit.

Fuck that! Those cunts should be paying for everything that guy has to spend money on until he goes back to work. They should also buy him a new scroater and give him a decent cash payout for his pain and suffering. Bet they don't though.

Wearing a full face as a scooter courier would be tedious and add up to a considerable amount of wasted time taking the thing off and putting it back on over the course of a day/week/month/year.
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?

Most scroter riders won't spend that much on a helmet, and banks still consider those to occlude the face with the front up. DAMHIK.

Maybe better than having your teeth smashed in don't ya think.
I remember when an MOT bike cop who was wearing the MOT issue open face pudding basin fell of one of those shitty CBX650's with the handlebar mounted screen (got the speed wobbles as I remember) and slid along the road on his face. It was not long after the MOT allowed them to choose their own full face lids as long as they had the pop up chin piece.
