Earlier tonight a car dumped all of its engine oil in the right hand lane coming down from Lookout Point. In the ensuing melee another car twatted the median barrier and a rider went down. After a bit of tracking the oil covered a good 400-500m. The contractor was putting gravel out before the lane was reopened but if it rains tomorrow as is forecast it could well get exciting down there.
If you are heading south and don't want to risk it in the wet you can shoot off down to Stevenson Road and then back on at Kaikorai Valley and miss most of it. Either way, if you use the motorway over the next couple of days you probably want to stick in the left hand lane all the way down the hill until you go under the Green Island overbridge.
Pip pip.
