    Metric cruisers?

Im not into Harleys, so wich of the big metrics are worth looking at, pros and cons, and factory failures, my budget will probably be in the 8 to 10k range, so obviously not a new one, and probably purchase some time around the end of the year. I would like some thing that can do long distance with reasonable comfort, and reasonable fuel range. I'm not interested in top speed, though not intrested in astmatic fuel hungry vacume cleaners, and would prefer some thing with out to much chrome, as I wish to ride it not admire it.

Suzuki Boulevard M50 (805cc) is mostly blacked out, can do 160km 2 up (on a track), I've had 370km's out of a tank (Dad got 400km's once). Factory seat is rubbish, but with that altered by McDonalds in Tauranga and a few aftermarket mods, is comfortable enough for me.

I dont know of too many issues with the jap bikes

I have an older 1100 but it handles well with the new shocks and suits me well

There are some cheap bikes if you go for the bikes that are not on the must have list

Ride one and see - a mate got a big Boulevard .. and hated it - managed to buy his old Hornet back .. So ride one first ..

Of that list above, I'd look seriously at the Kwaka - only because I hear good things about them - and not so much for the others ...

    Mechanically - me either.
But generally limited rear suspension travel (that is inherent in the style) and tyres that are too fat to deal with surface water are the main ones in NZ.

need to decide what size you are looking for, an 800 will feel slow after a fjr 1300, might want to consider the big bikes like m109, the big vulcan etc. lean angle will probably be an issue & the limited suspension, the main reasons I quit cruisers even though I like the look.

Just as well you're not into Harley's then, cause that budget won't get you much in the way of a Harley

At least it's a bike and not a description of my preference in men.

Sorry man, I have nothing against Harleys but you were too easy to leave alone I assume the black loud thing you ride is a Harley...?

What can I say, I like to hear the wind rushing through my hair and the fluro tassels on the end of my handle bars.

That is to say I like it while I'm young enough to not have a heart attack at the thought of physical exercise/spirited riding, have hair, can actually lean at over 10 degrees without making loud primal noises and releasing gas to get back up and so on and so fourth. Harley's have their place though. I'll be riding on one next to the Pope (how bad ass is that) in a couple of decades no doubt

most of the big cruisers ... in fact most of the modern cruisers lack clearance, my 750 with floor boards lifted to the point it scrapes the chassis first if you hit a bump is still lower to the ground than my 20 year old 1100 that rarely scrapes and with 12" rear progressive suspension goes well even with bumps in the corners

M109 hands down. No replacement for displacment when it comes to cruisers and that my friend is a good bike, Light, fast, limited clearance though, mid pegs would be nice. Pulls harder the a woman in an engineering school and looks good too. Comfy and with cobra pipes, sounds like the four horsemen of the apocalypse are riding with you.

That or save a bit longer buy a night rod special and forever be getting the pussay
