Once upon a time I bought a DR peg lowering kit (ex Vince Strang) because I am daft as a brush and thought it would work on the Freewind. Had some good ideas back on here but there's no way the peg mount plates are going to work on them.
I'd still like to get the pegs down and back a bit, but am a bit stumped on how. I also wouldn't mind some cage-style pegs as the rubber is a bit treacherous in MX boots in the wet.
Best option I have come up with is to hack off the mount point and get it welded it back where I want it. If I want cage pegs, I can maybe get some aftermarket jobs (recommendations?).
Even better (so I can keep the original pegs) would be to do that on some replacement parts or to get something fabricated to take cage pegs.
Photos of what I am on about in these auctions:
- Right plate and peg
- Left plate
But to be honest I am not sure of the best way forward here. So I am asking the collective KB wisdom: what would you do?
Cheers - Chasio
