Footpeg help, please

Once upon a time I bought a DR peg lowering kit (ex Vince Strang) because I am daft as a brush and thought it would work on the Freewind. Had some good ideas back on here but there's no way the peg mount plates are going to work on them.

I'd still like to get the pegs down and back a bit, but am a bit stumped on how. I also wouldn't mind some cage-style pegs as the rubber is a bit treacherous in MX boots in the wet.

Best option I have come up with is to hack off the mount point and get it welded it back where I want it. If I want cage pegs, I can maybe get some aftermarket jobs (recommendations?).

Even better (so I can keep the original pegs) would be to do that on some replacement parts or to get something fabricated to take cage pegs.

Have had a chat with Rogson about this and it seems this was one of those nice to have jobs that he never got around to.

To make matters more interesting, the mount holes are a few mm further apart than on a DR and the holes are all at different heights.

Had a look online but can't find anything that looks readily adaptable. Some suitable pegs on a flat steel plate were what I had in mind. They could be cut and welded (or bolted) onto a flat mount I could make myself.

Edit: I forgot to say: if any emporia are open for business I'd be grateful and can pay cold hard cash (or via electronic jiggery-pokery) for something that will do the trick

Went to Action wreckers today and he said he basically never has MX pegs in these days. But was as helpful as ever and suggested to buy any set of pegs and get the mounts engineered to suit at Brugars up the road. Not a bad plan, unless someone has a better one (or some peg assemblies they're willing to part with as a start point).

As an option, is anyone using the DRC wide pegs?

I use cheap chinese cast pegs on the DR and TT and they're great (about $20US a pair from ebay)

Thanks, that sounds like the plan.

Not got a lot of time to play with, so will probably go for some DRC branded "low" DR pegs (-5mm, not much) for a DR for about twice that from Cycletreads. If I do ever get myself one of Mr. Suzuki's finest, they'll bolt straight on.

I've got some DR350 pegs that I was going to try fitting with adaptor plates, but never got round to it. Will have another look to see if it's doable.

Had a look at those and I reckon you could make up a plate very similar to the lowering kits yourself.

Mind you, I'd think about 6mm steel would be required, so could take some patience if all you've got is a hacksaw, a unibit and your files like me

That makes the other options look pretty good!

Last week or so have been fiddling with the Freewind so been riding around on a cheapie GN I got for Mrs Chasio to learn on. Occasionally I forget and trundle up to the front of the lights, where the Auckland Grand Prix starts are a worry on that thing!
