I had an ex Dave Cook Cheney framed Suzuki TM400 back in the late 70's. About 40hp of 2 stroke single with a snappy power band. Refreshed the motor & it sat me on my arse when I took it around the block on a tuning run - yes it was street legal with a Huggy Marsh silencer!
Got stopped by a local motorcycle dealer in town one day so he could see what had passed him in the workshop ute when it was tapped out....... Even had knobblies on!

I had a Cop impressed with the Rickman - once coming out of an intersection, it had loose gravel all over it, the sort of stuff that has whole threads on KB with crybabies saying they are reporting it to the council etc etc, winge winge, moan moan. I took the left turn sideways in 2nd gear, and when it hooked up did a crossed up power stand down the road....and then saw the motorcycle cop watching me. He waved me down, and when he saw the bike he was really impressed, just kept on going ''Wow, wow, I've never seen one of these on the road before.'' Then he said ''I see your mates are waiting up the road for you, just cool it eh?''

One of those mates had a couple of CZ's, a 250 and a 400. The 250 was a handful to ride, but the 400 was a grunter. He put lights and a plate on it, the lights totally non operable and the plate off his Triumph, and used it was a street bike...not just hooning around the back streets, but as a bike to ride on the road, expansion chamber and all. I don't think he was ever pulled over on it. Fun bike to ride on the road - I could never tell if the front wheel was on the ground or not, more often not....so would give the bars a wiggle before a corner, if the bike shook all was good, if nothing happened I had to get the front wheel down.
