Driving a vehicle with the reg on hold costs $150 and has 20 demerits. Same as being unregistered.
last feb i got pinged riding my ex cop r80.....no wof and rego on hold.........the nice officer gave me a 14 day window to get the bike complied there by avoiding the $100 fine that he handed me.......but sadly there was too much to get done and was still waiting for some bits to arrive so the 14 days whizzed by and i paid the fine...........all good i thought untill i discovered about the points.......all 20 of them......why doesn't my case stack up with your examples above.......not fussed just curious

If you get a ticket for an out of date rego (fees out by a few months etc...not a dead rego etc)

Can you still get it paid up to date, and then take the ticket & new paid up rego sticker into the popo's to have the fine voided? (Just the fine..not the demerts..I think??)...Im sure you "used" to be able to do that?

Rastuscat??...could you possibly please confirm if this is still an option to people.

One can only hope she got the message, but man, did I wish I was a cop at that point...

You should of just pretended to be an undercover coppa and given her a ticket lol

"Easy target" A man recieves $4520 in tickets.

    http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/9662...an-easy-target

Recieved a ticket for driving a vehicle with a lapsed rego and warrant.

    Kept on using the car.

    He recieved more tickets.

Now whines how he is hunted down for driving a failed rego car and is unfair.

The whole problem with the compliance system is that it encourages folk to not worry about complying as when they get caught, they just go and do it, and get off the fine.

So, to be cynical about it, in a strange way the compliance system encourages law avoidance.

For the record, if the fine gets canned, that means the ticket gets cancelled, and the demerits go as well i.e. if the ticket dies, so do the points.

It's the same problem with my training incentive scheme. Down here I offer to cancel someones ticket if they do one of the rideforever.co.nz training courses.

So the cynical just continue to break the rules, as my scheme gives them a get out of jail free card. Well, not quite free, they have to go do a riding course, so I've had a win anyway.

Yeah, the compliance thing is a double edged sword.

    From the website......

    http://www.police.govt.nz/faq/what-t...ow-do-i-get-it

Folk often overlook the important point that once you've had a ticket for something, doesn't mean you can't get another ticket for the same thing if you keep using vehicle. A rocket scientist in Nelson just found that out.

It's quite funny when we stop, for e.g., a young fella driving a car with a big crack across the screen. He might produce a ticket, complaining that it's not fair, coz he got a ticket for that yesterday. Slow learners.

    Cheers Ras

I too am amazed this system still exsists...as I find it can also benefit those who are financially disadvantaged at the time! (eg, can't afford the rediculasly huge rego fees)...VERY odd in these times indeed

But I was just refering to rego (sorry...lets call just call it ACC,BS,TAX...to be clear)...not parking tickets, and certainly NOT using unwarrented & dangerous vehicals.

I was just questioning if, once issued an expired Rego ticket, don't you have 28days to "either", pay the fine, or get your rego...sorry!...ACC,BS,TAX all paid up to date
...so how can multiple tickets be issued?(Excluding parking tickets...thats a council thing)...especially when you are going to pay the back taxes in the process of getting up to date?

    law avoidance!...will NOT be tolerated!!

...that includes YOU late road tax payers!!

Ooooh, how ya liking the new bike?....smidsy & fireball like it as well?(I hope fireball got first go..his roasted arse earnt it! lol)...are ya suuuure we cant have a go??(I don't mind stepping down from a honda to a BMW lol )

Interestingly, a colleague was pulled up last week on his bike for a minor infringement (failing to keep left , which was probably a charitable way of viewing the crossing of a double yellow).

Anyhow, he was entirely pleasant and apologetic to the officer who turned around and pursued him. The rego was on hold, which must have been revealed when the check was done. No mention was made of this, just a $150 ticket.

Perhaps manners and respect go a long way for when one gets pulled over?

life coach, fitness trainer and sickness beneficiary Isaac Takarangi

Yeah .. and how does a "fitness trainer" get to be on a sickness benefit ??? The two ideas seem mutually exclusive ... maybe it's not just licencing requirements he's trying to bullshit the government departments about ...

I've no idea, except that I have always been polite, courteous and fully rego/warrant etc and always received the ticket for my alleged infringements.

I wonder what the infringement would be for brake checking a popo using an SUV?

Well.... I would say this is pretty foolish...
The popo might accidentally run over you in his SUV

So, yeah, anything from Broken Tail light to Motorcycle not in road worthy condition.....

Yup, your comment can be taken either way, but this KB, not SUV Driver.
