the only point this thing has is that it is a "brand new "in the box" RZ500N. As soon as you do anything to it much less ride it you destroy its value. Because at that point its just an excellent condition, used, 25+ year old bike.

Its like this tardme listing from Graeme Crosby: I adore CB400F's and it would be nice to have this in a glass case in our reception area, but as soon as it goes from being jewellery or paper weight to being an actual motorcycle, it has no "value" to the moneyed collectors.

My old man bought one (CB 400F) new in '76 and had it 10 years, I bought it off him and had it another 12 years. Sold it in mint condition with 46,000 km on the clock...my point is they need to be used. We took it around to Barries place (the guy who originally had this one still in its crate at that stage...least I'm pretty sure its the same one) to show him what a REAL one looked like. His was new but because it hadn't been taken out of the box and had been sweating a bit, was in worse condition than the ours that HAD been used...shame really....use them, that's what they're made for

Putting his annoyingness, gigantic face and any jealousy aside, Jay Leno has said exactly the same thing multiple times (I believe he used a Dodge Viper as an example in the convo I remember, and it was in relation to why he gets out and about with even his rarest cars and bikes and if that affects the value a lot).

Given the nature of the two stroke enthusiast, I suspect having to take it to bits and rebuild it just adds to the attraction.
