Rust in engine is concerning. Where was it stored apart?
These were end if the line model and least appealing from collection pov.
Just needs finishing (fixing. . . I ran out of money, bike shop wanted rid).

Don't you look at my accountant.
He's the only one I've got.
Another almost finished hack of a classic bike into yet another mismatched parts brown seat cafe racer.
Loses points for no exhaust wrap, but full marks for no side covers, stray wiring dangling in the gaping hole where the airbox used to be, and still needing work to be road legal.

Who puts what look like dual purpose tyres on a cafe racer ? I've no idea where this trend came from but I wish it would go away.
Cafe racers are all about speed on the road. I'd expect to see sticky performance rubber.
Brat, bobber, custom, cafe racer, I guess it is nice to put a cool label on your badly chosen pile of misfit parts!😁😁😁
Given that tho, am I being unreasonable with my 100% correct restoration?

Only a Rat can win a Rat Race!
Carl Coleman ex suzuki nz selling this katana at $85000, but Carl is the only one who can authenticate the numbers for these bikes.
He will not release the numbers, so where's the investment value here?

Bloody hell $85 grand !!!!!!! I went to Peter Flemings 70th in Eastbourne Saturday just gone. Peter was the youngest of a big group of bike racers from the 70's in the Hutt Valley.(Pete's old mach4 was there , a rusted out heap of shit ! such a shame to see it like that.).
Nice to see everyone but no one in the group would be buying the Katana ?? lol we're all fucked and aged 70 to 80 yrs old !! We were the ones who rode those bikes when they were new !!!!!!!
You'd never go hungry with Nigella Gaz.
If it weren't for flashbacks...I'd have no memory at all..
Thats it. The prices for 90's stuff is going up because those guys now have the inclination and the disposable income to relive their misspent yoofs. Same as what happened to Brit bikes - the values just plummeted. And old boy saying "well it is advertised internationally". So what? people over there might have heard of them and all, but it was completely specific to the NZ market and the rule "workarounds" (far be it for me to say "cheating") happened here.
The only thing I can think of that did have proper international impact was the Britten. And a bunch of our racers of course - Crafar, Holden, the Hiscocks etc etc.
Anyway, tell 'im 'e's dreeeeeeeamin'
I thought elections were decided by angry posts on social media. - F5 Dave
they were also built for the south african market, as for being a cheater, at least they were built at the factory, unlike the earlier black pipe gsx's. There will be a katana die hard somewhere in the world who will want to head hunt this. Ash King took decades to sell his 'brand new' HONDA CB1100R for less than half of that figure, and they can be authentivated, unlike this where the seller is the only one who has the numbers to authenticate it....
The reality is that NZ castrol six hour was a huge race internationally and that's why the factory made specials simply. Whoever won that race had order books filled in the northern hemisphere for people wanting a competitive proddie racer, and the public also wanted a winning machine. Anyone here who brought one new would be mid 60's now and likely want something a bit more upright to ride. Carl also wants $320000 for a personalised plate BEV of which pretty much no one will understand that either.
