I have very fond memories of a GSX400 I bought off Wellington Motorcycles in 1981 I think it was. Grey with a blue stripe. A mate at the time had a CB400N and we used to think we were fast. But the GSX was a comprehensively better bike than the CB400N. I know that isn't saying much, but it was cheap to run, quick enough, spares were available, servicing was reasonable. blah blah. Rode it all over the place.... Masterton coffee run, toured the south island a couple times, rode it to Orklind and back one weekend.

I just don't agree they were a shit bike. Sure, I wanted a wire wheel Katana, but I was 17 or 18 and in my first job which paid the princely sum of $5500 per annum.

Bike I bought after that was a GSX750 - in racing red with the square headlight... which I traded on a CB750F1 for good reasons which I no longer recall.....

It seems to have a 30 year old engine as well, so we are not paying for the R&D, So chrome must be bloody expensive.
Maybe the American lifestyle riding position makes it so expensive

Another person who struggles with the concept of what makes an old bike valuable.
1. Std condition to remind the old fart of how they were.
2. Iconic status; Game changer. Stunner. Evil. Quirky. Rare.

So it fails on every count. On top of being poxy

and poorly tuned (no air box will ensure that and I bet there's been no air corrector jets fitted).

Also got the low k since fucked with, so essentially untested tick. Sounds like he's never even ridden it out of town.
