I have nothing against this guy and the R1 he's trying to sell for $9500 or near offer.

What I find annoying is when people say "no test rides" in the end or "if you want to know how it feels like to be on one of these go to the dealership because I don't want you riding my bike" and other shit like that.

Thing is, dealerships are dealerships because they got a business to run and will more than likely keep their products (bikes in our case) up to scratch and certain standard/quality.

Now why would the bike you are selling be exactly the same as the bike someone else is selling? Doesn't matter if it's the same style or model it's two separate motorbikes.

What I find optimistic about these sellers is they expect someone to buy their bike without ever riding and feeling the bike itself to see if anything is out of the norm.

For me, if I do not test ride a bike then I'm not buying it. Simple as that.

    What are everyone's thoughts?
Well for a start is NOT a 2007, theyre a totally different model, different body work, different engine, different suspenion, different brakes etc etc... so it probably is priced too high.

Im a bit divided on the 'No test rides'. The most expensive bike I ever bought was bought sight unseen, and obviously without a test ride, which worked out very well, (apart from a couple scratches that werent mentioned at all, but not a biggy).

Im not necessarily averse to buying without a test ride, but I'd take issue to being told that I wasnt allowed one period.

Ask for a bike shop to do a pre purchase inspection at your cost.

Too risky, the mechanic might actually need to start it or *gasp* ride it.

If you can't have a discussion, perhaps you should label your posts. "Emotional response, please don't actually think about it".

I went to see a bike and was refused a test ride. I didn't buy it and bought another just like it. Always meant to call past and show it off to the non seller but never did.

On the other side of the coin I was selling an old x7 back in the day. Chap showed up with a new gsx750 wanting a 2nd bike. Went on a test and showed up 3/4 hr later with like 5 mates and said he didn't want to buy it. It was dirty and it sounded a bit worse for wear. I can only imagine what they did with it. Cunts. Why can't people just be honest? Its a lot easier on everyone involved.

Woo hoo! People with opinions on the internet in front of a display screen is finally getting fired up!

Would you buy a bike that looks good but you've never rode then? Pay the money and then get on the fucker, ride it back home and realized the clutch plates are fucked, the breaks sound like your mum when she see's you eating her favourite mince 'n cheese pie, and when you give it an oil change you find shiny silver bits instead of oil looking shit only to realized the engine's fucked?

Of course you will! Plenty of people will.

    Simple as that.

    No confusion there!

Sellers would be worried probably because they thrashed their own shit and then sell to others without wanting them to know they thrashed their shit.

It's a lively debate my friend. Kind of like how people stand by the road waving the NZ flag during the referendum telling everyone not to vote for the alternate flag.

Some people honk and give them a thumbs up while others (probably yourself) would kindly tell them to "fuck off, over there, that would be great"

I don't tend to do an oil change for a seller when I'm inspecting their stuff, but whatever gets ya through I suppose.

I've bought bikes without riding them. Plenty of others will and do.

If you are buying a sportsbikes and expect it not to have been thrashed, you're an idiot.

I would give the fingers to protesters outside family planning and tell them to fuck off. People waving a flag to rally support wouldn't bother me two shits.

But carry on with the assumptions. Even a broken watch is right twice a day, you're bound to land on a truth sooner or later.

Is... Is... Is this where I clap?

    Clap clap clap!

    Good discussion brother

Edit: Sorry I was busy then, I wanted to clap cause I got called a broken watch and an idiot and a guy that makes assumptions. Well I guess my opinions aren't really worth much in a discussion.... but I suppose... back at you Drew... you're bound to land on a truth sooner or later

Well certainly not the ones you've shown us this far.

I'm a shop assistant. Below most. But because I've been one for nearly 30 years now, I get to see who the real cunts are. *Hint* It's not who the majority of members here believe. The stories I've heard, in that time? Unfuckingreal.
