If you have a lot of money and one of those you could end up with a cool bike:

Funny, most customs leave me cold. That thing has a weird appeal, like it's looking back to the board track racers of old. If that's a Brooks saddle that worth half his asking price right there.
I've already made that joke. Right. Handbags at ten paces bitch.

You missed out meagre reliability. Despite being based on two SR500s they didn't seem to like big mileages. As a teen I aspired to one. Japanese Ducati I figured. Turns out they were shit.
And the Yamaha copy was also crap.

I also had a mullet back then so no real taste to talk of.
Fortunately I grew out of both deviancies.

I doubt that would be a consideration to someone who might buy one. But don't worry, in a couple more years and the Kiwi 'taste' will catch up and you'll be seeing fat front tyres everywhere...
Not really my cup o' tea but not too shabby for what it is.

At least the profile is normal and not square like those zig-zag tread Firestones.
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?

    But kept others....

Actually the TR1 motor has the right bones to be turned into a good'un. Just needs some re-engineering - like a Ducati.
But I've now sold the motor I had here so it's moot anyway.

So let's take a vaguely collectible old japper, rip off a whole bunch of bits, replace some those with cheap shit...and come up with a (to be fair) quite presentable cafe thingo.

On the plus side, no pipe wrap is evident, but twelve and a half grand?!
And that's just the start, it hasn't hit reserve.
Let's be analytical - it's a 2k shitter with a grand worth of parts and a whole lot of labour put into it.

As for the guy that commented "What a stunning job", jeebus man, it's got a fucking great hole in the middle of it!!

I think CB500s are a bit better than "vaguely" collectible. I read an article (in BIKE?) a year or two back that recommended them as a top buy if you could get one.

Judging by the rear tyre with the stripe still around it, not gone around any left hand corners in that 880km, even my chicken strips aren't that wide and I'm a giant nana.

Sounds like similar bullshit to when I bought a XJ550 unfinished project a few years back, was told it was running fine, but strangely the misrouted clutch cable sitting against the exhaust header hadn't melted...
Riding cheap crappy old bikes badly since 1987

    If you can't find a CB750/CB400/CB350 or CB500K0/K1/K2 - then yeah, a top buy!

So he spends 18months building it then doesn't even go out and enjoy the fruits of his (free) labour.

Knob. Nice job though looks the business if that is your jam
