Should add "overpriced" to the description.

I'll send an email to google right now.

The bikes were modified (stripped to bare essentials) for short races between cafe's (Cafe being another term for "Drinking Establishment). The resulting power to weight ratio helped increase speed. No set maximum speed ... just the faster the better.
Looking the part ... like the racers of the time ... was a bonus.

In the 1950/60's apparently 'the ton' (ie 160 kmph) was really really fast.

Add a can of redbull to the tank of your GN250 and you may hit it.

Are we not blessed with excessive amounts of reliable horsepower now.

Something to be thankful of tonight before you go to sleep.

    These wankers need some history.
The origional Cafe racer culture was about going fast and looking good, they were for the time fast road bikes stripped into racing trim, thats why the quientesential cafe bikes were BSA Gold Stars and Tritons and SS Nortons.
Later on especially with the American influence in the 70's it was solely about looking cool.

The factories responded to the popularity of this movement by producing such bikes as the Rocket Gold Star and the Continental GT. Plus numerous other Ducatis.

looking good compared to some idealised template, is what all cutural movements are about.
Cafe racers was about looking good while going fast, as well as at a standstill.
The race bike look and function is what all modern sportbikes esentially are.

Saying this as Friday a Dealer listed a 2016 Africa Twin ABS in the spunky White/blue/red colours with Honda crash bar and just under 5000km.... I didn't see it till Sunday, little bit busy/tired Mon and Tues to view, plus its still windy as feck those two days.... by Weds morning it was delisted damnit, missed out.... ohh price was asking $18500.....

Would be interesting to know how many bikes listed in this thread sold for asking price.

Trade meis littered with examples that haven't sold. I think others just go back in the garage as the owner is too stubborn to admit reality, or in the hope that one day a GB400 is worth $6000. Then that'll prove him right. He'll be able to tell everyone how right he was. Yeah.

Two years later his wife sez - you haven't ridden that bike for years, I thought you were going to sell it. I should have married your brother you arseplumber. The kids are all his. Honda owner. Mum warned me.
Don't you look at my accountant.
