9k isn't even the reserve and that would be 2 cranks that need rebuilding plus top end and power valves etc

I did a quick check but couldn't find another RZ500 for sale in the USA to get an indication of value. Restored it would be a desirable bike, but needing a complete recondition of everything $9,000 seems just too high for a start point?

yeah, but there are a few that follow this thread that would have a 'hard on' for the thing.
Doesn't even give me a twitch tho.

That explains why I would love to own an early 70 Ducati 750 GT and yet I have no interest in modern Ducatis, ah well just

have to put up with owning a Darmah till I win lotto.

Even sadder my daily rides are a 34 year old BMW R80ST and 28 year old Vespa PX 200

Ok maybe that one listed is in pretty bad shape but it's a 500cc two stroke! You don't see that very often.

    It's pretty much a 80's YZR500 race replica, no?

I think part of it is the other 'roundcase beveldrive Ducati's like the Sport and SS's have gone through the roof, the GT has followed suit.
At the same time the highest I have seen one sell for in excellent condition or original is around the $30k mark.
That New Zealand bike could cost that to complete easily given the missing parts as would the Australia auction GT.
A set of new Conti mufflers cost around $1300 to $1700 (iirc)

The seller of the GT also had this 1938 Norton for sale.

They probably sold in the mid $2000's in the 1990's.
There seemed to be a lot of good buying in that decade with prices quite reasonable or in a slump.
    I picked up a 1977 Ducati SD900 for $2500, two 1973 Kawasaki H2A's for $1700 and $800 in that period.
Times change and could not afford the same bikes now.

Its a crazy time, ex state houses near me with a 1.1million asking price.
Probably at peak Baby Boomer memory lane bike prices now, give it a few more years and they won't be able to ride them.

Considering how rare the RZ500s were in knew a heap of people who had them. 3 still do.
Biding my time (don't have the money) for a mate's project one. He's recently gone another direction with it and bought a 3ma TZR frame for it. It will be cool.
