The RZ500 is a V4 two stroke, a similar concept to the Suzuki RG500 Gamma in that both were marketed along the lines of 'nearest thing you can get to a road legal GP bike'. A similar idea to the more recent and vastly more expensive offerings by Ducati and Honda.

I couldn't recall if the RG was a square four or a V but when I looked up the spec it said it was in inline 4. Just goes to show you can't believe everything you see on the 'Net.

Neither made huge power by todays standards but the urge would probably arrive with a big enough rush that it could bite if not treated with respect.

I thought RG's were two crank square fours. they might look like a V but have one crank? Hard to do with transfer ports and all that gubbins.

Any questions about how a RG500 is constructed have probably already been answered...

If the asking price listed was actually the asking price, it would probably be ok, but along with the bike they've fucked up the ad as well.

Seems that turning the plate sideways, fucking with the bars and adding exhaust wrap is enough to call it a cafe racer.

The RZ's are rarer than the RG's. I know where there are two RG's - one in an RGV250 frame. Sadly probably nothing will be done with them until they're deceased estate...But the RZ's very seldom come up these days.
When proddy raced the RG's handled, the RZ's hurt some very good riders...There's a video nasty around somewhere of Marty Dock getting hurt at Levels back in the day.
If you want an RZ, go for it - but just use it quietly and respectfully.

I was introduced to the joy of motorcycling via renegade pillion trips on the back of a CB250RS (or RX) (twin cam model) on the way to one of my early outside school hours jobs.

Speaking of RG500's tho, awhile later a mate of a mate had just bought one and I got to go pillion on it. It was my first experience of seriously license losing speeds.... the thigns you do when young and stupid... I'll never forget looking sideways and REALLY appreciating how fast the powerpoles were going by...

A bit later another mate of mine was going to buy the same bike. I remember him going DOWN the steep road towards the pub near where the napier siege was and watching him come oh so close to flipping it when he pulled out to pass a car....

They had a serious reputation and were also known for pissing fuel everywhere if you didn't turn the fuel tap off.
I'd buy one in a heartbeat, two strokes rock.....

Pretty sure from memory the square four was twin crank.....

Forget your wannabe Jappa Cafe Racers, here is the real deal.
Disk brakes front and rear, 6 bend bars and longer forks for ultimate control, slash pipes for that pure Briddish sound.
At 6k this is a bargain, spend another 10K on it an you have a 13K bike
