The car I was allowed to drive as a young-un was a white 5 door fiord laser. There were lots of them. I don't ever see that becoming a classic.

for sure i had the 3 dr sport, it took a hell of a beating, it was the rust that killed it in the end. But in saying that my first car was a toyota corolla 3dr wagon (ke30) with the good old ke30, when my dad was away I worked the hell out of the engine, put a cam in so it wouldnt idle under 2500 rpm. Got nicked 3 days after moving to welly. I never though those would ever be worth much....same with the rg400, if i only knew....

In a world where a Lada has become a classic, anything can be a classic

This is true. Bread and butter little Japanese, Italian etc commuters from decades back are now very collectible.

Fuck it, I'm going out to buy a Vauxhall Velox !! NOT !

Actually I was thinking yesterday as I blasted past your place yesterday morn. Why would I ever want to ride something from the 70's when I have this ? I'm a modern ''Milly'' !!!!!

You'd never go hungry with Nigella Gaz.
If it weren't for flashbacks...I'd have no memory at all..

Morris Minor. My first car. Had a van, and the uber-desirable Morris Traveller (Woody). I would consider another because I could do the woodwork myself - its English Ash and it rots in our climate - plus its 40 y.o. Oak apparently or er, something. I thought about laminating up some marine ply - I reckon that would look good plus you could do it with hand tools in your garage.

The rivet counters would lynch you....The ChCh group who've put better (as defined by reliability criteria...) engines in them, are social pariahs to the VCC.

Uber-desirable in my circles was a VW Kharman Ghia or a split window Beetle, we used to laugh at Morris Minors

My view of Briddish cars is probably tainted by driving lessions in a Morris/Austin 1300 and driving my Dads A60 ute. Mum's V8 Holden Premier was somewhat cooler to my 15-17 year old eyes....despite it being Orchid ( metalic purple)
