I've seen it a few times, nice bike, lots of money spent on it.
The days of picking up cheap classic bikes are passing....
Even the ol' BMW's are getting up there.

DeMyer's Laws - an argument that consists primarily of rambling quotes isn't worth bothering with.
That's half the problem though....people think they can re-coup what coin they put into restoring the machines
unfortunately it just doesn't work that way
I've had classics that some people would give their eye teeth to even throw a leg over let alone own and I spent big dollars on them knowing full well that was money never to be seen again nor re-couped.
Though in saying that I'd love to have those bikes sitting in the shed now![]()
I'm not so sure, The Norton I have just finished doing some work on was bought at the engine/gearbox/suspension had just been done, nice, and new exhausts and Borrani's. I did the numbers and will tidy my other one up and move it one. Saves me lots of shed time.
People need to decide if they want a do-up that they will spend lots of time and money on or pay the money and enjoy.
That R75/5 sold for 10K.

Must be a while back....15 years?
I sold a 1959 VW 23 window Samba with Safari screens Project in 2001 for 2K, even as a project now it would be worth 20K
plus......then there is that $50K terrace house in Newtown Sydney I nearly bought in 88.....
Oh well....
On the up side as least you have owned some nice bikes.

Bit longer than 15yrs ago, both were early to mid 90s....I cringe now seeing what the likes of the MHR fetch price-wise
That one used to mix n match parts off Phil Payne's Alchemy RV1 as he was the spanner twirler that looked after it at the time
He set the Laverda up as well and it was a beast of a thing...open the taps on thatit'd send the needle well of the dial
least now I don't have to out-source much if any work, so expenses are a lot cheaper
Even the XS I'm currently tinkering with is all being done on a budget and so far coming in well under what it could've been costing to tidy up
Wow that stuns me the R75/5 went to 10k. I mean some odd (yeah I'm lookin at you) people like them for their functionality and what they managed at the time. But like they aren't much to look at. I mean 10k I'll put it in the lounge room sort of thing.
Heck you could get 2 first model GSXRs in the current market (I don't particularly want one but they are a game changer and quirky attractive. Can anyone explain why they are so cheap?)
I've been wrong about some of the bikes for sure. But it's these exceptions that dreamers seem to latch onto when pricing their worthless tat or sad abomination. TM is still littered with old listings.
Don't you look at my accountant.
He's the only one I've got.

For some years they had an artificial high value as the engines were wanted for Speedway TQ's....Then the TQ's went watercooled and the bottom dropped out of GSXR750 H-M's. They also have a distressing tendency in old age to drop rods if you're unwise enough to take them onto a track....
I recently purchased a tidy, original 1986 Ford Laser 1.3 for my son as a bit of a project for the next year before he gets his license. He's learning to cut and restore paint, change fluids, gaskets etc. And I've given him a good budget for mods. Highly unlikely any of the mods budget spent will ever be recouped but he's interested, we are doing shit together and that's worth a shit load.
Oh Piss Off.
