Cool story. But you have neither the money, nor the taste.

It's not about taste. It's a nostalgia thing.

A mate has a minter blue one, and its proper mint. I saw that one and thought it would be a great project.

    For somebody else.

    I had a Titan and a GT when I was a lad of about 16 or 17.

They were rough as guts, ill handling, and horrible. Fuck I loved them

Yeah I'm starting to accept the RD400G project I'm pining for is now beyond my means.
Problem is that people are now expecting restore prices for projects. That GT500 is a project. Restore is lke 4 grand. Prolly 1/2 that would sort a going bike with all the bits there. Double it for something ragged and then keep adding zeros for something iconic.
Don't you look at my accountant.

yip, and save $450 a year on rego, as pre 1977 is classic rego, payback comes pretty quick so that's another reason the value is in the base product these days.

Life would be so much easier if you addressed questions with a simple answer.

My Stinger is a 1970, but struggling to think it would get a real rego on it.

Yeah there's a lot of that shit around. Some (younger people in particular) need to re-read the definition of the word "mint" as well.
