After 9 very happy years I'm thinking of trading the K6 on a gsx1400. Love the gsxr1000 to bits but its just getting too hard on this old body now. Takes days to get over a 2 hr ride.
I am amused at the prices people want for their old bikes (have been offered 6 grand for my mint uncrashed K6).
Gunna be hard to go back to a Battleship like the gsx1400,but if thats what it takes to maybe ride another 5 yrs so be it.. (I'm 70 now ).

You'd never go hungry with Nigella Gaz.
If it weren't for flashbacks...I'd have no memory at all..

That Yamaha should be comfortable and you won't have to row it along with the gear lever. Never tried one of those but had a punt on a CB1300 which is a similar concept. The 1400 would be a bit tough to manoeuvre around the camellias at my place.

Oh, and there's no rule says you have to quit at 75 either.

So does it need to be such a battle ship? I rode my mates one again, day before, just down to the shops to get some beer as he had a decent pack on the back. But what a beast of a thing, and not in a good way.
Don't you look at my accountant.

Try a superduke R. It's the first bike that Whitetrash couldn't get over the motor of, since the K5 gixxer.
We were all like that with the k5, it just turned your head inside out as soon as you twisted the throttle. The duke is the same...but faster.

I reckon you won't gel with the 14. It will be worse in evryway than your K6.
You could look at something a bit lighter maybe? Certainly more nimble than the 14.
    Ktm 790/890 duke, MT09? Etc...

Holy shit. For another $8K I'm in brand new Mazda MX5 Mk4 territory... with a gearbox that hasn't done 200,000 kms or more... I know which way I'd go *

Yeah, I was wondering about that. My plan would've been to go smaller and lighter than what I've got. Street Triple, CB650, MT07, Ducati Scrambler or even a Bonneville variant. Variety though is the spice of life.

A few years back some of the older guys in Ulysses recommended scooters as a way to extend the riding years. There are some capable big scooters around for anyone broad minded enough.

I am trying to encourage some friends to have a crack at this. It has potential for fun:

Yeah mate, a couple have said why so big ? I've always loved the gsx1100 of 81 with the square headlight. But they were even heavier at 245 kilo . (1400's claim 228 dry..... )
Felt at home on Bandits and had a couple of them, but finding a low Kms one, they're too old as well... ? Thought of the gsx1000 s but my buggered knee don't suit it and the seat is pretty much the same as K6.

Hey, world's my oyster and something has to happen, its time ! Gunna do some shops over with my wallet,we'll see.
    Thanks for comments .

You could buy something a bit older, piss easy to work on, slightly modified to suite your tastes, runs smooth as silk and can betcha no one in your area has a roadworthy one.. Does 200km plus without but hurt as well as keeps up with traffic no sweat at all.. Tires guaranteed to last 10,000kms and only cost about 150 bucks. Parts easy to get. A years Rego $50. Good for back road riding and comes in black of course, if one chooses, with orange optional.
