Spending money on suspension etc is best done at the start of ownership so you appreciate it and don't swap too soon.

Done this on last couple of bikes in knowledge that a buyer will only compare bikes from their outline and mileage 9/10 times. That 10th person isn't then in much competition to pay over market average for std bike.

Dunno about optimistic but the word 'patina' would be doing some heavy lifting here.

Yeah you would have fun with missing parts but those things are now worth so much it might just get near that. Crazy huh?

There's a great network of after market replacement parts for this era of m/c so I'm guessing there wont be a problem for those who know actually were to go to get them

And you most likely will get those parts quicker and cheaper than a recently released model motorcycle.

And of course there's that expensive $52ish yearly registration you have to fork out.

I'd buy it for close to that money, but I'm in a unique position of knowing a guy with a massive stash of water bottle parts.

These were no where as good as the considerably more modern RG, and quite unreliable to boot. Pistons would crack from side to side.

Actually giving it a clean in an attempt to make it look as though I actually want to sell it might have helped too... What is it about people and Trademe???
