So, no providence , you've imported it from Aus and want your money back, and you've already got another. . . . Alarm bells ringing.

Spent a lot of time on it, but needs tappets and some dyno time. So. . . Makes a hell of a racket but you couldn't spend 8 minutes opening those exposed tapet covers and waving some feeler gauges in there? Runs so badly needs dyno time.

Wouldn't (he doesn't say couldn't) build it for that much he says. Yeah. Yeah you're right. I wouldn't.

About 3 grand overpriced for the NZ market.IMO

Best way to sell it is to race it with a for sale sign on. If it's quick it'll sell.

Would swap for Norton or Matchless? Think big, go for a Britten why doncha?

Don't know much about these early Hondas myself. Be interested in your knowledge of them. You seem very knowledgable.

I'd say the asking price is about right.

Good for you. I know nowt. Then again, IMHO anybody who would exchange a classic Brit bike for that would be nuts. And no, I'm not a psychiatrist.
Nor do I teach remedial reading, but I didn't comment on the price.

reality is when these came along a lot of guys saw a fair bit of them, from behind them on the track. There's a couple of these out there that are so much better to ride and maintain than a brit bike too.

Cool, I can understand that. Which would fetch the big bucks though? Ok, I know, I can look it up...

No doubt. I had a mate with a fairly hotroded one. . . . But reading between the alarm bells I'm kinda thinking this isn't one of them.

Nice rims mind. Those 'new' tyres have a lot of tread, but they look kinda hard. Date code would tell a story I'm sure. Didn't look to see if they are road or race compound, GP if I recall.

Says recently listed, but I'm pretty sure I recognise from ages back.

Past its exemption date, hasn't run for over a year, can't be arsed pulling it out to take pictures let alone try start it. What's the chance it has ever seen maintenance?

So why would anyone pay $2.5k for this??

Bugger me. Their are hens teeth and then are TY hens teeth. I've never seen this model road legal, just air cooled ones. Be one helluva a bike for the tight trails.

    But the price..

I should buy it because its the only offroader I will realistically be able to get a leg over.

Think I've ridden one. And fallen off it.

But Why? 147km. I can't think of a more pointless bike to have road registered. Maybe good for a short farmer with serious hilly terrain.
They did use that engine for the Scorpa that carried on for quite a while.

For 2-3 grand more you could buy a new European Trials bike 30 years more advanced.
Edit, $1400 more for an old stock 2021

Interestin you should mention the farmers. For many years in the North of England and in Scotland the hill farmers used TY's to get around before quads came along. They had horses for when it snowed.

One of the first things I spotted on that TY was the generous rack, almost farmer spec.

The thing is with modern trials bikes is how focused they are. No seat and a frustrating gearbox for anything but trials. They are pretty explosive, too and can really catch you by surprise when they rocket off into the distance or up a tree. Bloody awesome fun, though. I'm looking to get a modern bike into the shed, finally feel confident enough to make one work. A bit.

That TY has a 6 speed box, I would bet it's low geared with standard -ish ratios. Very usable for trail riding.

Up until a week or two ago their was an Ossa Explorer TRi 300 2015, listed which really grabbed my interest.
