Greg now you have decent net....
Bob seems to be the age i remember him being when i was a kid?

    Were you there Spider?

I would have asked what happened to the 5 valvers ,were they all converted back to 4 valves?
i think Lauren Poole raced the 5 valver in the year they did the nats but i might be wrong.

Bob doesn't age much. Afaik there was only one 5 valve engine. When it blew I assume the cases etc went into the general spares pool.

The Duc in aussie is probably correctly priced. Absurd and it'll never be ridden again.

I never met Bob but I did sell him a bike.

Well, the one I've kept is simply there to taunt me. And to show that occasionally I did good work.
If I could be sure the cats wouldn't piss on it I'd move it into the lounge.

absolutely. Particularly a competition bike. If it is a static display it may as well have wooden dowels inside the fork legs and no internals in the cases. I was watching a guy on a youtube vid the other day not thrashing the tits off, but driving in a spirited manner a 70 MILLION pound Ferrari 250 GTO - round Goodwood. This isnt the video but its worth it just for the soundtrack - plus onboard:

So if these guys can do that, then a half million dollar Ducati (or an RC30 or 45, or all manner of competition two strokes, or vintage MV's or whatever) can and should be ridden. Even just paraded if not raced - and racers being racers the parade laps will be quicker than I could go.

It probably will get ridden again, or it probably won't. Who knows?

This rainy morning I watched forty odd minutes of a guy looking at the cars for auction at Sliverstone a couple of weeks ago. The prices were eye watering but even more surprising were the mileages. Most had hardly ever been driven, some had never been driven at all.

There were some bikes but very much an afterthought. He mentioned them mainly because a couple were his. This at 30.35 IIRC.

In case it's still raining where you are:

Kept this. Last time it was raced in anger was Brighton '92. It now lives pretty well on the start line of that circuit. I'd love to ride it round the block, lol.
