Many many years ago just after dinosaurs became extinct I was selling my old Honda 750. (No Im not gay).
To be safe as I thought at the time meet at my fathers house as the bike wasnt stored there to be stolen later.
Guy turns up in late model tidy as ute. Looks the bike over starts it up .
Keen as . Asks for a quick test ride to the corner and back and hands me the keys to his ute.
Long story short I have never seen this bike again and the ute was stolen.

Interesting line in vehicles behind it.
That bike is somewhat collectable and desirable and is a little too nice to be butchered into some sort of Gaylord abomination.

    Clap clap clap!

    Good discussion brother

Edit: Sorry I was busy then, I wanted to clap cause I got called a broken watch and an idiot and a guy that makes assumptions. Well I guess my opinions aren't really worth much in a discussion.... but I suppose... back at you Drew... you're bound to land on a truth sooner or later
I didn't call you an idiot. I gave an example of what would make you an idiot.

    I have found:
If you pass the personality / attitude test most sellers will let you have a spin even if they said no test rides.
If I put "no test pilots" in my adds I get less fuckwits asking to have a look but no less real interest.
If I put no test rides there is plenty of tumbleweed between interest unless you are priced real keen.

If you don't have the stones for test rides be prepared to get less money for it.
If someone doesn't want to buy your bike without a test ride that is their call. Do they need the bike more than you need the cash or the other way round?

Interest and questions are not the same thing.
Put "trades considered" and you will get 10-30 questions from people with no interest in your bike but who's own bike belongs in this thread... magically though this seems to increase your page views by about 500%. More if your responses have some humour without being rude. You only need the right person to find your ad.

In my instance the chap was older and left his wife with his ute, I figured she wasn't stolen

My wife is a shop assistant. It was Drew that made the next step in saying how I considered people, but that was aimed in the wrong direction. I was just trying to unseat someone from their high horse of self importance to a more realistic level. Like the same as us morons and fuckwits.

    For Sale?

    Here's an optimistic 'sell'

KiwiBiker, A site for all New Zealand Motorcyclists.
Nice place where bikers come to have a friendly chit-chat about bike related things, learn from experts, and meet great new people who share our passion for riding.

Time this got posted in this thread, it was posted in the buckets area a while back:

    http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/moto...1045000903.htm

$2800 for what is essentially a stock bike with the charging system removed and pretty paint job...

This is roughly $800-$1300 off what this bike is worth. It looks well presented, but I recently bought a well presented bucket for a lot less than that.
Even if it still had all its road gear on it would be priced too high. The fact that it is still on TM shows that it's not priced well as usually buckets are a collectors item so chaps like a few in their fleet.

I can't help wondering what he would say if someone sent him an email offering $1800

    Custom.... Equals.... Triple the price?

    I present to you all....

With an 1850cc 16 year old cruiser which has more cc capacity than my 1800cc '11 Civic....

    http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/moto...1061410242.htm

All for the price of $31,500.

110 HP is cool and all and "This is not a Harley but it goes like all Harley's should" is nice and all but I think you can get a cruiser with more reliable parts and perhaps greater horsepower for less than $31.5k

Just my thoughts. What are yours Drew? I would probably test ride this work of art before I buy it
